Barlow called me last night all excited about two of the pups he raised from the cross on his cur gyp. Barlow moved to West Virginia early this year near the Crupperneck Bend area. He said he went to the river yesterday to check a fish trap and two of the pups loaded up and went with him. Right before he got to the river, he saw a young, very fat sow bear near the road. Just for grins, he opened the door to let them out to see what would happen. To his surprise, they went to screaming and hit the ground going round and round until they figured out where the sent was coming from. These pups are only 4 months old, no colors, no tracking units so ole Barlow left the car running and took off after them. He never dreamed this would happen. To make a long story short, they treed the bear and when Barlow got there the bear jumped out and the race was on. He thinks they lost him at the river but they were an hour getting back.

There was a thread on here about them two or three years ago. They have been on this ranch in Bolivia for around two hundred years. They used them on cows and to hunt Jaguars. Supposedly, Sasha Siemel, a famous Jaguar hunter best dog he ever owned came off this ranch in the early 1900's.

to have 4 month old pups to do that is an awesome sight to witness...those pups are giving a sneak preview of greater things to come...I would be excited...
