I noticed my best dog was limping around today. He's usually real high strung on the chain when im outside. Went over there and say he's got a deep cut on the top of his front foot. Its pretty deep. How long will it take to heal in this area and is there anything I can do to speed up the process. This is my best dog and im supposed to have a big hunt this month. Don't want him to be out of the game that long if I can help it.

Do hydrotherapy on it everyday and he'll keep it clean by licking it... should heal in no time.

Clean it up real good and put some skin glue on it to keep the wound closed they use it when the skin gets to dry to stitch up wounds you can find it on Google

Mike do you mean just wash it with water everyday? I thought hydrotherapy was to let the dog swim. And hyan I have some stuff called nu-skin or something like that, I used it on my forehead when I layed it open at work. I should have got some stitches but I got the bleeding to stop and it held it together pretty good. It was like super glue. Real strong smelling and burned like a son of a gun. Is this what your talking about?

Yes, flush it with a water hose for several minutes... best medicine there is for deep cuts. It flushes the dead tissue away and heals from the inside out... my vet showed me that a long time ago on a horse we had.

Like mike said. When you flush with water just let it run over it. Don't force or put any more pressure on the wound than what comes out of the hose. It will heal from the inside out.

Just want to say that the simple washing it with water every day has helped big time. Its dang near healed and it was a bad cut. You could see the toe bones.

I had my best dog cut his pad pretty bad on 1/30/15 he limped bad and I hunted him a couple days later with tar on it and he never favored it but I only hunted him because I was tryn to impress land owner and secure new ground and it worked done it few more times before it heeled

When I was in college and had my dogs on chains I also had a little pen for that reason. It's hard for a dog cut on the top to heal with chain dragging across it!.

Tapatalk is actin up on me again..... i swear by vetericyn, it works wonders, spray it on twice a day......its legit, been using it quite a while and i havent found a thing that works better yet for skin cuts and open wounds.
