i am not in the market to buy or sell any of my dogs, but i see people selling or buying dogs with trials, and i just have a dumb question. What is the unwritten hog dog law on if that dogs is killed on a trial run?  I would assume the the buyer trialing the dog must pay for the dog if he hasn't already.  probably an abvious answer but just curious as to what other thought.

That's why it is money in hand. Can't return an item or dog if he is dead. The guy with the trial assumes responsibility for the animal. If he wants to return the dog it should be done in a timely manner and in the same condition it was recieved in. Wouldn't you agree?

If your trialing him and he gets killed or hurt he's your dog. That's why you pay up front before the trial. That's the way I've under stood it in all the dog deals that I've been in and I think that's a good policy! Anything can happen in hunting a dog. If you don't like this the other option is have the owner take you hunting with him to see the dog hunt! Just my .02

i totally agree.  i just wanted to be sure it was how others saw it.  you never know what some people might say to get out of paying for something that went wrong.
