With deer season upon us We have not been doing much. I have been meaning to get this boar out of my running pen. He has gotten to big to run pups on. Called some buddies up to bring some young dogs and we would catch him out. We ran him two hours before we caught him. Thanks Mike the knife, Rhett Street and Scotty Needham. Sure enjoyed it. Nice work. He would not be nice to young pups full of piss and vinegar for sure.
Curious - how big is your running pen?

Good way to spend a day bud. Sounds like y’all have some nice pups on the come. - Catching hogs out of a pen isn’t always as easy as it sounds. When I first started hog hunting I went to a pen and ran hogs literally all night and didn’t catch a single hog!

JSH The pen is 25 acres and thick. Briars and sawbriar thickets. I only keep one hog at a time in there. I want those pups to have to work to trail it up. This boar had been in there a couple of years and I was not concerned with his size because he was always a runner and the pups could not come close to catching him. He was around 80-90# when I put him in there. Just the last couple of months he started baying up after about 1/2 hour so he had to go.

That is a herd sire prospect, and now that he's been trained he might be able to survive.
