Well, if history is any indication to the future, we are in for some battles. WOW got  here Friday about noonish and we decided we would make a run Saturday morning. We loaded Ava, Outlaw, and my catch dog Ranger along with Apollo my dogo prospect. We get to our spot and cast both Ava and Outlaw. They split and went separate ways immediately. They were hunting this set of woods pretty good in spot but both kept leaving and starting over until they both ended up in the same spot at the same time and finally started singing. Ava actually was first by a few barks. We drove around to get closer and I told WOW, let’s get whatever this is tied and get out of here, we had a little get together to be at. He said ok and we headed in. I had Ranger (off leash) and he had Apollo on leash and his first time ever to be in a set of woods. We get in there and send Ranger and he gets slapped. The hog broke but was bayed within 100 yards. I heard that he was caught so I was hustling to it. I got there and the hog was doing his best to brush Ranger up. I got him thrown and Ranger off. WOW and Apollo show up and he tied Apollo and in the process of trying to get to Ranger to tie him back, the leg on his Walker snagged some briars and he bit the dust. Man he was like a fresh bulldog, his eyes were wide open and he was pawing at the air trying to get up, he was super charged. Then he came and got the back legs and we proceeded to tie the hog. I won’t lie, deer season made me as soft as it did my dogs, probably worse. I forgot about Ava and Outlaw and got to listening in between breathes. They were bayed again. So the one and done plan was out the window. We get to them and send Ranger and the hog goes out the back door when he’s coming through the front door. They stopped it a couple of times but just briefly. We decided to go ahead and load the hog and get him untied. The other two were bayed at 1.5 from us. Now I’m gonna tell y’all, and if you’ve even drug a hog you know, they grow as you drag. Growth rate is about 20lbs/20yards I believe. So by the time we get the hog out, untied, load up and drive around, the other two have been bayed for a couple of hours. About 350 from them we can tell we’ve been brushed off on a group. They broke bay but my dogs stayed put baying a solo hog. Then it tried to break and you could hear it grunting because somebody was tagging it. They ended up catching it but it got away and they bayed again in just a few yards. I sent Ranger and we were caught. This time it was a sow and WOW just stuck her. We caught the dogs and went to the house. My dogs, myself, and WOW were all tired.

Don’t feel bad man.  I’m as soft as cotton too man. Deer season usually didn’t bother me too much and I was able to keep in shape til I got too old. lol. Good haul and fine dog work sounds like to me

That brindle gyp is a half sister to the black and white male. They are cat/treeing walker cross that I’ve been raising along with some close friends for a while now.

I think he said it was 16 back at home and the pics I saw showed that it had snowed a decent amount. He’s getting blamed for our cold lol. Everyone has told him he shouldn’t have brought it with him. It took him 4 days to drive it this trip instead of 3 because he had to come down through California.

It has sure become a challenge to drive anymore. That number 7 is gonna be in front of my age this year and there isn't anything I do the rest of the year to prepare me for wrestling hogs. Lol. I have come to the realization that I may be too old to hunt myself in to shape. And it can sure warm up now.
