What have been y’all’s personal experiences with the different registered lines? Hunt? nose? bottom? Drive/heart?

I personally haven’t dabbled with them much myself just here and there looking for outcrosses…I’ve owned a few (5-6 I think) heavy wrights bred dogs and while they’d all hunt decent (6-800 yards no sign) none of the ones I’ve owned had any kind of bottom tho they’d quit 3-4 hrs into a race never good for more than 20 miles on their feet

I’m not trying to start a bashing thread by no means! Just looking for honest feedback, the wrights dogs I owned I caught hogs behind all of them just personally prefer a dog that’ll stick in a race for longer periods of time

How was their track speed? Did they lead a race, stay up with other dogs, did they make a lot of loses, or when you picked em up they were spent or still going strong.

I’ve seen a pile of cur dogs that wouldn’t run one over 45 mins. And people are happy to feed em.

I’d say in average their spend was around a 6, when I was trying them they were hunted solo to really see what they could do without this yella blood we got doing all the work, and they’d still be going strong when they quit I understand an out of shape dog being give out and tapping out but getting legged up and just quitting that don’t work on this yard

I’m not saying our dogs are the best by no means but if a cur dog quits over here in 45 minutes it’s not leaving the woods….id rather dive on them 12 hrs into a hunt to get one to stop, you can alway catch a dog and make it stop…you can’t make them go if they don’t have the motor in them

I agree 100%. I want it all in a dog but one think I won’t do is beg one to do its job. I suck at training dogs so it better come natural or they don’t eat my feed.  Once you own a good one to set the standard, you won’t feed much else.

I got two brothers that come from the Rathkes dogs and they both get the job done.. the one I call Limpy started hunting out at 9 months old and already finding his own at that age his brother Ace I started him a few months later so around 11 months he didn’t come in as hot as Limpy but all it took him was a few more hogs and his light switch came on I can go with these two and I can cast one at a time and I can find hogs with them..

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
