Some of y'all know I am just a counterfeit hog hunter who slides into Milam County and hangs on to T-dogs shirt tails for a few weeks of running hogs. I am what I am and I have to give T all the credit for what I know about catching hogs. This is the last year with a 6 in front of my age and believe me it is not getting easier but I am still ate up with it. It was rough even getting to Texas this year, every pass over the Rockies was closed the week I was coming so I had to drop down through California and come across I10. It took an extra day but we hit the woods the day after I got here and started catching hogs right out of the box. I got to hunt with lots of friends and some new friends. Caught hogs in some cold windy weather and some warm sunny weather. Had my first hunt with a Dogo and he may make a dog since he sure has the tools. Watching these dogs work is a blessing to me and to see T's commitment to giving them an opportunity to be the best they can be always makes me proud to call him my friend. We both took sick and spent the rest of the hunts at less than 100% but we kept hunting and catching hogs. At the end of my stay the count was 29 that we put our hands on and a ton of shoats. Good times finally getting to put a face to Judge Peel and make a round with him. The Lord willing I will be back to give what I got next year.

Every year older you get is another year older I’ve lived to be as well. Me and many around me never thought I’d live this long. True friends are harder to come by than hens teeth, so I feel blessed. Hopefully next year we can hunt more and get to watch some better dogs work than this stuff you’ve been forced to hunt behind lol. When you come back as a 70 year old, I have no doubt you’ll still be a better hand than A LOT of these youngsters. One reason is I’m sending your wife a work out schedule for you lol. I gonna tell her to quit buying these tools like bay elevators because they are gonna make you soft. Seriously though, it was a good time as always and I really enjoy picking your brain and talking dogs. I feel a better about my opinion when it’s backed up by someone that knows more than me. Judge done went and got himself a set of fresh new legs to put on the ground and she looks like she’s pretty nice. My ole dogs may have to gang up and tie her to a tree to get ahead of her next time he comes down. This old sport is sure fun and I love to watch good dogs work, but I have met and made some of the best friends a person could ask for through it. Spending time with them and my family in what the good Lord created is about as close to heaven as I recon you can get here on earth!

Glad you were able to make it down WOW. I know the feeling. I am a year behind you and it does not get any easier but the drive is still there and the passion to hear those dogs run keeps me going. I have long since given up on being the first to a bay and just walk at my own pace but if I lead the bulldog, they have to wait on me. lol Glad you made it home safe.

Thank you old Man and Cajun. I gotta say, I am almost never the first to a bay but these fellers are very glad to see me when I get there and they have a good hog. Thomas old friend from Florida kept hunting till late in his 70's so I gotta keep after it for awhile. Fortunately Thomas's nephew and some other young guys are able to do some of the hard work. Spending the next 2 weeks getting the RV ready to take the wife to Arizona for a month. She loves it but it is kinda boring since I don't golf or play pickleball. Oh well, happy wife, happy life.

Wow I sure had a good time meeting you and talking with you. There are so many knowledgeable people out there as yourself not only in dogs but just in life lesson and general knowledge. If younger fellas would take the time to set down and listen we would all benefit from it. But anyway it was very nice meeting you and I enjoyed talking and hunting with you.

It was good putting a face to a name Judge. Ol Thomas knows how to put on a good hunt when you can bay a hog only feet from where you caught one an hour before. Fun to swap a few old military stories too.
