First project was the kennel I had to build, next order of business was to make a dog box for the buggy. Just sharing this because there might be something that someone can use to help in their program. My welding has fallen off to embarrassing levels, I need to go to school for that. Man that looks good and simple. I wouldn’t make fun of your fabricating skills until it collapses, then maybe. I’m not really one to pick at folks though. What if anything did you treat your plywood with?

Thanks t dog I appreciate the kind words, I haven’t treated the plywood with anything yet. I was thinking of a coat of primer and then paint. But now I think about it, I might try some stain instead to see how that works out.

Yeah it looks good like it is. I put bed liner on my dog box. It’s the second time I’ve put it on plywood and it just doesn’t work well. The first time it tried brushing on a thick coat of paint and then putting the bed liner on that. I let I dry and roughed it up even and it didn’t last long. This last time I roughed the plywood up and then put it on directly and it didn’t work either. I really like the little rubber mats from TSC. They are easy to wash off and they don’t seem to get as hot on the dogs feet plus they can get a little traction on them. I talking about the little 3’ x 5’ x 1/2” mats not the big horse stall mats. That may not be the exact dimensions but it’s close lol.

Hollowpoint I like those latches. They look nice and work well too. I built a box for Rednose and his cat dogs. He’s bougie though and had to have the slam latches. I won’t lie, they looked good and they are nice too.

Hollow those are nice latches. I think I need to get one to put on my SxS since I broke the latch off of it.

I like them so far, they won’t break the bank either. I need to get two more for my truck box, those barrel bolts I used initially are about wore out and not dependable.

A little update, when I built the dog box for my truck 7 years ago I just used some barrel bolts. Well they wore out and weren’t working so well anymore, so I ordered two more of the spring pin latches. I had to cut and grind the old ones off and make some brackets to mount the new latch pins on. Took the dogs out this morning and the doors stayed closed the whole way and back.   Stop laughing at my welding, I’ve got feelings you know. Also t dog, I put wood filler and fiberglass resin on the plywood top for the buggy cage. Pics to follow. |
