Did everyone quit hunting and get rid of their dogs or is my app not working?

BA-IV, good to see you’re still here bud. Deer season is fixing to bite us too. The heats been pretty bad but we’ve still made some hunts. We tried to start early and quit early. I made a hunt with my friend Amber Friday. We caught 4 but they were just smaller hogs, 100ish pounds. The last two were shoats that her Robber dog and Freckles gyp were bayed on for about 3 hours in the heat of the day. They got across the creek and out of pocket when they relayed. I was impressed with them. They didn’t sound like they were in any danger of quitting and looked good heat wise when we caught them. Amber shares the same family of dogs that I have so there was an element of pride in it for me as well.

Maverick, I fear it’s the same culprit killing this site as with most other similar forums, FACEBOOK. I’m gonna ride this out and then y’all will probably not hear of me anymore. I’m not doing FB or any of that other stuff. I mind my own business and don’t care about anyone else’s. If they want me to know their business then they can address me directly. All the keyboard warriors and saints get my goat and I’m not the kind that just puts up with stupid bs. I’m very straightforward, whatcha see is whatcha get. The social media world is fantasy and people get lost in it, unable to separate fact from fiction.

I dont do much with facebook or other social media. I like the forums better....but it seems this format is not what it used to me.

Been cathing some decent ones and paying the tax with it. Been sending the pics to friends. I am no photographer  and they usually come out terrible! lol

I know I don't comment a whole lot, but I check this site almost on a daily basis. I have been on this site for 10 years and have learn a lot from those that have come and gone and those that are still active. It's not about numbers to me, it's about quality....I like to hear from the ones that have heart and grit after the newness, hype, and adrenalin wears off and the feed bill and vet bills become a reality. Those are the ones that have a true passion for hunting dogs. I like to listen to those who know how to educate, edify, and encourage fellow dog hunters and don't mind being educated, edified, and encouraged by another dog hunter.  My hunting partner is on this site as well and we have talked about many subjects and questions posted on this site. I have tried FB but was quickly turn off by the drama it produces.

So, I'd like to say Thank you to all that comment and share the wisdom and knowledge you have in the dog world, and I hope it turns into more understanding in my head.

Teaspoon I agree, lots of knowledge has been and still is on here. I enjoy the heck out of this forum.

The rest of y’all that aren’t getting to hunt, go ahead and write some stories. I’m not very smart, I won’t know that it’s all made up.

I got my start with free pups/dogs off this forum, and all the reading I could want to do. I had never even been around a working dog let alone a hog dog. Sucks to see it slow down around here.

I think the lower numbers may reflect the dropping off of all the wannabes after American hogger. There are mostly all good dogmen on here any more. There never was a ton of drama here but yet there is a good exchange of knowledge. It's hard for me to not find anything to read on here because all my hunting is in one month in the winter. I would love to spend the whole winter but my wife is real resistant to that. She says it takes several months to get the Texas out of me after a month

I dunno, some here, came in before American hogger, I’m supposing that’s that cheesy tv show in seen a couple of times somewhere or heard about here and there but ain’t had a tv in 13yrs so never watched.

Maybe some folks life changed or git more complicated, maybe their reasons or desires for hunting just dryed up. Maybe conflicts got in the way or maybe they just aged out.

I dunno, but that doesn’t make em less of a dog man than the next.

I still check in every day in the morning, when I get home from work and before bed. I still read every post.

I still enjoy it and live vicariously thru y’all doing it. I know the fun and appreciate those still having the fun.

Y’all keep posting….just wish I could contribute, but alas, I have nothing to contribute. Bit i will follow, and it’s appreciated

My profile says I registered in 2015. I did the Parker cur board before that and that was after the truegrit bulldog board, bandog banter and various other boards since 2004

+++ just rambling, but I don’t do, nor ever will, Facebook instagram twitter or any of that. I like the board format where there is just the enthusiasts that really do and live the stuff the stuff they do with the dogs.
