Got together with Scotty Needham, Blake Joiner n Alexander. This club we r hunting in will only let u run from 10:00-2:00 during deer season. That gentleman on the far right is Ray Brown. His brother is James Brown. They have had Plott bear dogs for over 50 years and they hunted the best of the breed in Tn. Ray and Bob Giese were paid by Oliver Smith to hunt Cascade Big Timber all over the country. Ray and James hunted with a lot of the early Weems dogs with Everett Weems. Anyway Ray brought a female in to get bred to one of my dogs and we made a hunt. Dogs rigged a good track and we put out on it. Scotty and Blake said a really good hog had been to a feeder at 6:30 so they headed there and turned out. Well it took awhile but Showtime and Wonder trailed right to the food Plot Scotty turned loose on. Dogs were all spread out but eventually bayed. Went in and caught a nice Russian sow. Before we went in we saw the big boar come out of there with a sow so we turned loose on them. We caught up to them and caught a good spotted sow. By then it was 1:00 and we caught the dogs out.

That sounds like a good time. It’s an awesome time when you can just visit with guys that know what those guys know. I wish that dog was mic’d  up. I’d like to hear what he’s whispering in that hogs ear.

Tdog, I can tell you what ole Showtime was saying. He was telling that hog how lucky he was that we showed up cause he was going to chew his head off.

That's a good hunt for deer huntin time.   I am not acquainted with Ray but know James a little bit. He got a gyp from here years ago so we corresponded some, and that time we all went to the steakhouse from Plott days I'd talked to him some that day. They are both definitely renowned bear hunters from way back.

I knew Bob Giese pretty good and enjoyed visiting with him and his wife when they were here and when I'd see them at Plott Days.

You might should’ve called showtime Butkus instead! He’s a dog after my own heart because he understands the psychological part of the game.

Clue, James, Ray and Bob are all good people and they had a inside track on the early Weems bred dogs hunting with Everett Weems a good bit. Dont know if you heard but Bob passed away last year from cancer.
TDog they are gamey for sure. I have a 3 1/2 month old off Showtime that I call Primetime and another female pup I call Dixie (4 Months) I have knocked a couple of squirrels out to them and they are squirrel crazy. Only problem is Ole Primetime grabs the squirrel as soon as it hits the ground and takes off running with Dixie in hot pursuit. Next day they are crapping squirrel hair. lol

Yes, I knew Bob had passed. I think he and Rodney Burris had hunted together quite a bit for a few years, and the crew of them had made an annual trip up to Wisconsin and hunted the Larry Mckenzie stompin grounds where many of the Weems Butch/Jill dogs were made.

Showtime was out of Amber who was off of Showboat.  Showtimes sire was Hillbilly.

10-4 thank you. Lots of names I’ve read about over the years. That’s really awesome. You should be proud that you’ve done so well.

Cajun my interest in plotts got peeked again recently after listening to a couple of podcasts. One of the hunters is a Cuban guy in Georgia and the other is Bob Plott, both guys had a wealth of information. I’d like to see more pics of the dog in that pic, i really like his looks.

The only plott I had I got from Star Mountain in the mid 90’s, young gyp. I tried to make her a coon dog. I wish she turned out better, the one thing she could do was smash a coon by herself. She lacked in the track, trail and treeing departments unfortunately.

Here is one of Showtime. Not to brag but he casts, trails, rigs and absolutely needs no help.
