got on a deer lease for this season in San Diego, Tx. (duval county) , ive been there about ten times now , and havent seen a dang thing but hogs!! really sucks because i paid  $2000 dollars to hunt there and theres nothing out there, the man that leased it to us said there was a bunch of deer out there and we took his word for it!! really ticks me off, he is an older man, you would think he would be honest. deer are not moving right now and sure not coming to feeders, i would be careful about bashing some man on a public board for this reason considering the conditions right now, this is only the opening weekend of season give it a chance and kill some hogs that will help

I was reading were Texas parks and wildlife said there were plenty of deer but many hunters would be disapointed as alot of the deer would likely not be comming to corn feeders w/ the real good acorn crop and all the grass etc growing after all the rains.

When I hunted in Pearsall, Tx   hunting did not get real good until Christmas and New Years.

I would give it more time too.

Really slow up here as well.  Deer are  not coming to feed or corn, acorns by the truck load this year.  My hunters are not seeing much right now either.  I have a ton of deer but you would not know it the way nothing is moving right now.....

You sure Lexi hasn't been slipping out and shooting your place out of deer?

Why dont you change your hunting tactic.  Try observing the deers patterns and hunt  the transition zone from where they eat to where they bed down.  Find where several trails heading into thick cover.

Tell you what , you could just send me the keys to the gate and save a lot of money. Just think you won't need to buy fuel, food or corn the rest of the season.  Grin

Just be patient the deer are there.  I hunt in so Tx too but i don't go hunting until Thanksgiving weekend.  There is too much forage for the deer to eat, once the rut starts belive me they'll be chasing those hunnys right to your feeder.  Good Luck....

Where is the lease. direction? North of town usually has the best concentration of deer. East side has been shot up lots of smaller tracts of land. South of town not many deer but lots of hogs. West side ? never hunted that side.
