Any remedies for joints? One of my favorite young dogs is lame after every hunt. His front ankle joints swell after every hunt. Going to start him on glucosamine tomorrow but was hoping there was something else I could give him to help. Legging him up doesn’t help.

You can rub DMSO from his paws up just past his ankle joint before hunting and after the hunt…it should help the swelling and minimize or stop the joint pain…DMSO will absorb thru the skin including yours if not using rubber gloves…DMSO has many uses, I use it on a regular basis and it works better than any prescription I’ve used for pain…

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...

I thought about that or bigeloil but wasn’t sure how good it would do him.

If you want to save the dog for hunting, lay him up for several months and give him a chance to heal. Continued hunting on a injured joint will only make it worse.

Cajun I learned that the hard way long time ago one of my dogs was hurting every hunt and I would be complaining because I wanted to take her every time got to where she would be hopping 10 min in. My wife told me when you ever going to learn to rest them dogs when they need it stop being selfish being the hard head I am I did finally that put her up for a good while and it never came back. Hard to heal when your still on it

BPC 157 is supposed to help with joints and quicken the healing process of the body in general. I had check into using it, but I couldn't find a dosage ratio.

I did talk to a veterinarian and an ER doctor about it. Neither had heard about BPC 157, but they did briefly research it. Based on what they researched, both said it would not hurt to try it.

He’s been laid up since September. I got him at 11-12 months old. Been that way since the day I started him. Honestly hasn’t been pushed enough for anything to have had happened to him.

This has been like this since I got him. Out of some of my dogs but I didn’t raise him. He’s been off since September. Hunted him once then probably was August when I hunted him before that.
