Had some good hunts yesterday and today. Yesterday my Son and Grandson came along with Highwater and his son Wesley and the two Swedes per and John. Dont know if I mentioned it but they Hunt Wild Boar and Brown bear over there with Plotts. Today was one of those days when every rig strike produced a hog and we were done by 11;30. Not going to lie, I am tired after hunting 5 days straight and I think hunting 13 days out of 17 has worn me and the dogs out but we sure had a lot of fun. Time to give the dogs a much needed break and myself.

That has been a good series of hunts for sure. A few days rest and the dogs will be tuned and ready for another round.  I forget what time frame you get to hunt the Marsh, but I was thinking the weather had been some hindrance to you guys Marsh hunt this year.
The 2 years I got to come down the rain interfered a little bit. I guess Feb. in your area is just weather prone.

Cajun, do the Swedish hogs/bear have different tendencies than your hogs/bear or do they have the same experiences for the most part? What’s the terrain like where they hunt?

t-dog, not speaking for Mike, but I know there aren't Black Bear in Sweeden, they have Brown Bear and they are quite different. At one time there was " I think" a 2 dog limit you could have on the ground per bear track, It's gonna take a real strong minded dog for 2 of them to stay on and bay a Brown bear. Mike can give you the facts, he's been over there and hunted with them.  It is real interesting to me to put dogs on a Brown Bear but that's way to far from home for me to venture there.

They hunt European wild boar the way people here shoot deer with dogs. They surround a block with standers and shoot whatever comes out.
Some people get shots off and some do not. They were amazed that we catch them with bulldogs and use a knife if we want to kill one. They both got to knife about 10 hogs between the two of them and they had the time of their life.
Their Brown bear are the European Brown bear that is a sub species of our Brown Bear. They look exactly the same, just a different species. They are only allowed 2 dogs on a bear. The two dogs in the picture with the bear hanging are Kemmesabbe and Yankee, two dogs I sold them.
The other two dogs with the bear are John and Yankee, two more I sold them They have more to fear from the bear then the dogs do. Every time I have been over there we hear of bear attacks on hunters. The big bear hanging next to me weighed 699# and at the time was the 4th largest bear ever killed in Sweden. Another interesting not is that Sweden kills about 40% of the worlds Moose harvest. They hunt them with dogs also. Beautiful country similar to Alaska being on the same lattitude so they have a lot of mountains tundra. Their native people are called Laplanders and they raise Reindeer.

That’s really interesting. I’m sure it’s a great feeling to see your dogs excel in a different environment like that. That’s a credit to you and your dogs. I’m with the old man though, as interesting as it is, it’s a little too far for me to want to go. Heck anymore, if I have to travel an hour from home I’m not real happy lol. There are exceptions but for sure not the norm.

Mike the weather is bad, the chores are done, give us a detailed hunt story on the bear hanging up. Cold or hot strike, long race, how many times bayed before killed, what was he shot with, how many times haha and anything else you recall.
