2-27 Went up to my camp on thursday after some stuff I had to do in the morning. Didnt get up to my camp till about 3 in the afternoon. Getting stuff around and loaded and the young plott didnt want to wait for me and went off hunting. I hear him open and get looking and he is about 600 yards off. Long story short he is in a big block and they dont want to leave it. I leave him to do his thing solo, listening to see if he sits down and bays. He made some loses and and rejumps. I pick him up about 7:30 with no hog at the end…but a good effort. Ill take the skunking for the day! 2-28 CrackerC that used to be on here came to hunt. First hog of the day outran two out of shape dogs. After some dog chasing we get caught back up. Do some more trailing and dont get anything. Go to a different spot and cast my cur dogs. They go about 700yards and bay a boar hog about #130. Get him caught and barred. We end up with mashing a few shoats. Cur dogs end up drowning another 100l# barr hog in a big cypress pond. After swimming to them we decide to call it a day. Pic is the boar and some dogs. 3-1 Go hunt with my old buddy, his wife and his Daughter in Law in S. Florida. We start the day slow then get into them pretty good. Catch 4 big fat sows and get a pretty nice boar hog. We keep getting after them just about all day and hunt till dark.. We lost the best hogs of the day, he was a good 220#. Caught him and tied him down. Came back a couple hours later and he was gone. Don't know if he got loose or gator got him off the ditch . Dogs had a 100# sow had to kill. We end the day 10 good hogs, 3 50#ers in the trailer loaded and 2 hogs we caught got killed. Good day with good dog work and nothing hurt. Next week Turkey season starts. Unfortunately, it's a big deal around here and I lose a bunch of spots to hunt. Lynel

Those are some good hogs. We have been seeing some gators here but has not quite been warm enough for them to be active yet.

That sounds like some good "normal" hunts, you guys are accustomed to those gators, I wouldn't know how to approach the gator infested country for the dogs sake.

Thanks Mike.
They are not real bad yet at most the places I hunt. But this place has a bunch. I saw several 9 foot plus out yesterday. The were already hatchlings out.
Lost 2 dogs there last year. We try to stay on top of the dogs as much as possible. But as we all know it is not always possible. Its almost unhuntable in the summertime.

Man I don’t know about everyone else but I’m glad you caught under 20 head. I was starting to feel like a real amateur. I was thinking I probably needed to get on your puppy list. The good dogs are caught because they are in there getting the job done. The sorry ones are spectating so they aren’t accessible. I sounds like another good hunt though seriously. It sure sounds like that young plott has business on his mind. That is the number one ingredient in a good dog.

Thanks everyone for looking at my sorry pics. I enjoy seeing everyone hunts and share a few of mine.
