Have the opportunity to pick up a CD, that is Airedale, American bulldog, and cur crossed.  Has anyone ever heard of or hunted this cross before?

I think the Airedale has been out of style for a few years but all the old farts in my family crossed them with pits and ab's all the time.  Made wonderful catchdogs, and they could use their nogin. One reason my uncles stopped using them was they said the cross led to increased stranger aggression.  That's only anecdotal evidence and bet you'll get a heck of a dog.

I have known of 3 pure aeirdales, never hunted with them but the owners say all are straight catch and around 80-90 lbs.

Looked at the dog today (looks like an airedale to me) can tell he's got some kind of cur in him.  Mr. Heitz is gonna try him in a pen with a rough hog and let me know how he does tomarrow before I pick him up.  He does have the legs and size to him for sure.  Hopefully he'll be a good one.  My catchdog Ol' Porkchop makes a heck of a hand but sometimes does'nt have enough lead in his rearend on these bigger hogs, never hurts to have some help.  If I pick him up I'll post some pics.

Scout1, Just about everyone here in Hawaii has been crossing the airedale into their lines and they actually do work very well here but the only drawback I never really could come to enjoy was the hair. But cosmetics can be shaven I guess if the dog works!  laugh
