The money I would spend would depend on the person who I am buying it from.
If I knew the person I was buying the dog from was a straight shooter and wanted 500 bucks for a real deal CD, then I would go ahead and do it.
But on the other hand someone who has dogs for sale all of the time and wanted 200 dollars for what they say is a finished CD, I wouldnt do it.
People are selling those dogs for some reason, most likely they were gotten for free, didnt like them, and are just tryin to make a buck off of them.

So, I'd rather spend good money on a good dog, not someones trash. Especially if you need a CD right away.

A dog, no matter the breed or vocation, is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

Dogs that will catch may be a dime a dozen...but a catchdog is most certainly not.

All what it's worth to you man.  Just paid $300 for one, but only because I wasn't able to raise it myself.  The dog's exposure to kids and its temperament alone was worth it to me.  Can I lose him tomorrow?  Sure can, but that also goes for any of my dogs.  Don't worry about what people say or think - do what's right for you.

Thanks guys, I'm still lookin - the temperment part is one of my biggest concerns, like I said never ran a full pitt, and I have three girls that love my huntin dogs, and I do not want to take any shortcuts on the temperment end of the deal....  (guess thats why I'm a little pound shy - most pitts round here are in the pound for a reason) And I know not all are like that , I just want a hog hatin, kid lovin catchdog..

Use your judgement on the prospect and the seller and you should be fine, ask for proof on what they are claiming and you should come out just as you plan...  Too many times I see a good post used to bash folks and there ways, just aint right and sure don't make us as a whole look to good to the people who use our resources and those who oppose it!
