Turned out near Flatonia Saturday evening with Underdog (the gay ninja) and his wife,Matt, Richard, and my two daughters. We started the day doing some squirrel hunting, then let Foxy the greyhound run some jackrabbits. At about 6:30 we turned the dogs out. Annie and Brandy rolled out a pretty good ways, we decided to let them go out and do their thing, and that we would turn out the young dogs Bryant had brought. We hunted the young dogs a couple hours while we were waiting on Scott and his wife to make it in from San Antonio. Scott called and said they were close to the ranch entrance so we loaded up the young dogs, and met Scott and his wife at the barns. At that point we decided to go locate Annie and Brandy. They had been dipping in and out of range on the Garmin most of the evening. We went to the last point the Garmin dropped them, and we heard them bayed. They were about 950 yards through the woods. We had two options, walk directly to them and cross two creeks in the cold, or drive the buggies for ~20 minutes in the cold wind, to a gap in the fence. We opted for the driving. Got to within 300 yards, and we walked in to them. Cut the catch dogs loose, and had a nice fat sow caught. Annie and Brandy rolled out again, and in no time I dropped them at 1.8 miles on the Garmin. We took a few pictures, and headed back to the barns to cut the loins out of the sow. It was getting to be close to midnight, and Scott and his wife had to leave, as did Richard and my daughters. It was freezing out, so I told Bryant and his wife to go ahead and go to the motel, and I would wait on the dogs... Bryant said he couldn't do that, and he was staying until we got the dogs back. So we looked at the map trying to figure out the best way to get to the dogs. We decided to take the truck, as they were off the ranch a couple of miles to the west just past where I had permission to be. We drove up one road even with the dogs track on the GPS, and could not hear them, but we could see a well lit house a few hundred yard in the woods. The map showed another road to the west that looked to be close to the dogs as well, so we drove over there. All we found was a locked gate with a dark house. Not feeling like getting shot at, I decided to go back to the road with the lit up house, and wait on the dogs to head back. While we were waiting, on the dogs, I saw some flashlight flicker, so I decided to drive on up to the house. Of all things to be going on, it was a hot tub party winding down at 1:00 am ( I think I had dreams about this when I was a teenager ) We talked the the lady that owned the place, and she said we could go back there, and that we could shoot the hog if we saw it. They also mentioned to be careful of the hot wire back there. We to the back of the property and found the dogs near a net wire fence. No hog, and no baying, just the dogs. Not sure if the net wire had them stopped, or if they got zapped by the hot wire and stopped, at any rate. We called them to us, and loaded up said goodbye to the homeowner, and called it a night. Not a real productive night, but we had a good time, and brought home some pork! And no, I did not get pictures of the hot tub party Scott and the Gay Ninja Some pics of the squirrel dogs

Craig that would be Bryants squirrel dog, I think mine was trying to find her own arse She will get the hang of it but she is not a cold nosed dog at all. Even little peanut was going to den trees and we were unable to shoot at anything. It was real windy and cold and I think they were just layed up in those hollow trees. Chris got a poser shot of mine smelling on a tree but no barking and no meat...

Matt, Look closer at the second pic from the bottom, your dog is in the back of the tree checking out the hole. All you can see is her legs. Craig, here is a better pic of Matt's dog

Craig, I was just saying this weekend, that if Annie and Brandy keep ranging out like they are, I am going to have to separate them. Hunted Annie and Ruby(Brandy pup) last Thursday and they made a couple 3/4 mile loops, but they at least made loops. Then they hunted in a little closer the rest of the night. Same story when I hunt Brandy. But you put Annie and Brandy together on the Flatonia place, they'll make a large ranch seem too small. I don't know if it's just the open country, or if they are just really used to hunting that place. I have been joking around calling them my cold weather dogs...put them on the ground, then get back in the truck in the heater and wait until they bay Heck, I might actually start hunting them that way.

The name of this thread leaves the doors wide open for endless other possibilities that could have happened. Less details on the Gay and more details on the hot tub party would have been alright.
Sounds like you got some pretty good dogs Chris, with some good bottom.
