It's horrible, whatever you do don't go to the dogs for sale section and buy one of those BMC pup.   Cool

All kidding aside it is a pretty sound blood line that generally produces early starting good finishing cow and hog dogs.  Bryant on these boards can give you a wealth of knowledge on them.  I own one and like him but he can educate on just about anything you want to know about it.

Grittydog,

If your handle indicates the type dog you like, you will probably be very happy.  A lot of the Ben genetic dogs tend to be a little rough.

What are you looking at...pup or older dog?  Do you know who the parents are or who the breeder is/was?

For the most part they are self-starting, very well bred documented working dogs that are capable of doing anything.  There are currently dogs tracking bears for the state of New Jersey and the state of Lousiana, tracking inmates for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, treeing coons, hunting squirrels, catching coyotes, working cattle, catching hogs and any other thing you could imagine.

I stumbled upon the dogs by accident a little over a year ago when I was given a 2 year old yard dog.  First time laying eyes on a hog he bayed his tail off, second time in the woods he struck a hog at a 1/2 mile out.  I was so impressed, that I began talking to people and reading everything  I could find about these dogs.

I have been searching and reading as much as I can also, I 've petty much have made my mind up on getting a set of dogs out of this bloodline. I have spoken several times to a man named David Thoms, he breeds them for working cattle. I just wanted to hear from somebody that has them and hunts them. Thanks

David has some good dogs, and I believe some of his trace back to Randy Wrights older bloodlines even before he acquired and started breeding Ben.  I believe David recently began also using some of his dogs on hogs.

If you want to know more about the hog hunting abilities of these dogs, get a hold of a guy named Steven Dallas (4D Curs).  He posts on some of the other boards under the screen name Airduster.  He has a pretty large pack of these dogs...breeds and hunts hogs with them.  I believe last year he caught 716 hogs with them.

i have got one out here in california....10 yrs old and still going strong....my female was a tight verygritty dog(could almost call her a rough dog) and got killed last year about 4yrs old.....my "yella" dog is a true bay dog only pulling hair when the hog breaks and then backs up 7 or 8 feet...i have come up on some quality boars with "Yella" baying loose and the hog literally rootin a-corns with not a care.....seems to be a lot of natural ability in this ben bloodline....real fast starters if you dont beat them up too young....i have a litter off of yella and my fla cur female right now and they will bay anything that moves    they are 12 weeks old.....pigstkr

I was talking with Randy Wright this afternoon and he told me that he has a small website again under construction.  If anybody's interested, you can click below and see a bunch of pictures of some of the foundation dogs.

Click on the picture thats comes up.
