the first dog i had was a half redbone. i got him at 1 yr old. the first time i showed him a hog he bayed head off by himself. i took him in the woods several times before he found a hog. i didnt have any other dogs to show him how to hunt so he didnt even know there were hogs in the woods yet. each time he would stay gone longer and longer. he is still around today and is my best night dog.

I have hunted with a few and they are pretty good. My hunting buddy got a redbone cur cross in a deal for a dog box and dogs included. I have no idea how old he was when we got him but we hunted him for years. He was a good dog and found lots of hogs.

I've got a buddy who has a Redbone/BMC that hunts out good, is gritty, and has a horn on him. The last hog we caught cut the dogs nut sack open which resulted in a hanging teasticle, and bit the end of his pecker sheath making it look like you stuck a 3-blade muzzy up it about 3/4 of an inch. Despite the damage the dog was caught on right along side the catch dog.
