well last night i met some buddys at the grove to make a quick hunt. i got there first and waited a few minutes for them. my two pups were making a lot of racket in the back of the truck so i let them out. they hang around for a few minutes and next thing i know there gone. well i hear some cows take off running and figured the dogs had spooked them. they normally dont mess with cows but they stayed gone. i whistled once and one of them comes back. the better one of the two stays gone. by buddy gets there and we sit the and wait about 20 mins for him to come back. i started to think he might be on something cause he never really has got out that far yet. dont hear nothing  so we decide to walk in the direction i think he went. walk around for about an hour thinking if we get on something and he is lost, he would come to the commotion. well we dont get on nothing and get back to the trucks and i start to holler for him. it takes a while, but he started to whine like he was hurt when i would call him. it was hard to tell how far out he was so i walk a little ways and call to him. nothing. wait and call again. nothing. go back to the truck and call for him again. he starts to whine again but seemed a little closer. go to him a call again nothing. go back to the truck and call and he dont say nothing.by now its 4:30am. figured i go home and come back when it gets light out. go back and park in the same spot and call. hear him whine and he is only 75yrds away go to him and he is dragging himself with his front to legs. pick him up get him to the truck and check him out. no blood, but a bruise under his back leg. he acting like his back is broke. he will only lift his head up,everything else is limp. if i touch he gut he tenses up. grab his back paw and i get no reaction. going to take him to the vet in morning, couldnt afford the er vet. im hoping for the best but i dont know.

Sorry to hear about your pup. There are so many things that can happen on a hunt, you just never know.

If his back is broke you know what you need to do, dont let him suffer.

I bet the cows ran over him or one kicked him. Hate to say this, but it doesn't sound good.....hopefully your vet can tell you what happened. Good luck with it.......

Sorry to hear that Joe, sounds like he got stomped for sure... I think I'd go ahead and put him down if his rear-end isn't working.

Joe,
I'm sure sorry about your pup. There is probably nothing you can do for him. It sure sounds like a broken back. Hope he don't suffer too much. I wish you luck.
