Caney Creek Hog Doggers

Went on a hunt tuesday night with my dad, my girlfriend, my friend will and his girlfriend. When we got to the place Will turned his dog out while I was getting stuff together. Within 5 minutes he was bayed so I turned all my strike dogs out to go help his dog out. They lit out so we got the catch dogs and headed there way, when we got there I heard a sound I have never heard before. It sounded like we were next to a waterfall with alot of hogs grunting. As we walked closer to them a big boar with lots of ivory sticking out ran towards me and will, we already turned the catch dogs loose so we jumped on a fence trying to get out of his way. One of my strike dogs ran at the hog turning him the other way, when the catch dogs caught the hog they had bayed all hell broke loose. Hogs started running everywhere so we told the girls to find a tree and stay by it for awhile. Me and will went in a stuck the hog, everything was going great until the garmin showed my #1 strike dog not moving which was odd cuz he usually rolls out when theres lots of hogs around. I went to him and found him sitting there looking bout half knocked out, I picked him up and took him to the truck. He was breathing hard, so I called my mom to come get him and take him to the vet. Wills dog was bayed 1 mile from us in someones backyard. We drove to where he was and called him out, we went back to the truck loaded everything up and headed to the house. Blue was doing great, I went to check on him this morning and he had past. He was 10 years old and had alot of heart for hunting, age didn't slow him down one bit. He will be missed, R.I.P Blue!!! Sorry for your loss, has to be hard on you, but maby its better/easier to deal with at 10 than 4-5 years of age I suspose.

There's a special place for dogs like "Ole Blue" it's called Hog Heaven...It has been a very bad year for some friends dogs and I lost a great one as well. Truly sorry for your loss. R.I.P. Blue....
