Scroll down to bottm of page and as far as which material is better, Kevlar is, How much layers depends on what kind of dog you plan on putting it on. | | | | | | v v | | | | v v | | | | v v

I have a Razorback and a Tejas vest......and have used both quite a bit......they are both real good vests. The thing I like about the Razorback over the Tejas is the velcro on the top.....it helps a whole lot in the hotter times when we don't put the vest on the catchdog at the beginning of the hunt. It is easy to put it on and attach the velcro...then buckle without it falling down.....

There is nothing wrong with the Tejas vests. We run two of them, about 5 years old, and each has been poked through a couple of times but I would expect that of any vest. They do their job.

Both our Razorbacks and Tejas vests have been punched through....That is going to happen to any of them...even the old welt felt vests we used a few years back got punched through......as I said before they are both good vests.....

I have a Tejas vest and I really like it. My next vest will be a Tejas. Maybe I can special order it with velcro rather than buckles and add in some leg flaps. I have a friend that has a Tejas vest on a bay dog and he went to Uncle Earl's Hog Bay, showed the Tejas folks there how a boar had cut into the side panels over the rib area. They took the vest at no cost to him and put in kevlar panels in those areas. I have also had good service with Southern Cross too, they actually gave me a jagdterrier vest and cut collar for buying two sets, and then took them all back and made me new ones when I did not like the fit on the originals. I did have trouble with the new SC vests rubbing the legs raw on 3 jags and one dogo. I soaked the vests in fabric softener a week and them made the dogs wear them in the kennels a week to work out the kinks. I no longer use vests on jags, curs or our plotthounds, just on the catch dogs.

I bought one out of the Boar Hunter Magazine about 7 years ago and I have been real happy with it. It has some wholes in it but it has taken some beatings. It is on its third catchdog now. I think it is called an Eliminator. It had leg flaps at one time still has one. Never had any serious injuries from the cuts in it.

They pee like all dogs, but when they are in a really bad mood they do it like skunks, the head stand and all. Better wear hips boots! Better yet, chest-high waders!!! I am one step ahead of you . Next you are going to say they would make a good field goal kick dog. Vest and all right over the goal post!

Tejas outdoors make some good cut vest that is what we run our bay dogs alot of the time. They will fix the vest if something happen to them.
