Well, we started out with a real good hunt catching six hogs in two hours. It was Chris, Mandi, John and our old retired hunting buddy Jason. As we were tying the big boar, the dogs rolled out and were baying a couple hundred yards from us. Evidently Tiger caught and met his maker. I believe he was on his way to being an exceptional dog. A little over 1 1/2 years old and has consistently been striking hogs the last six months. Very independant and would range out 500 to 1,000 yards hunting on a regular basis. His only downfall was that he was rough. But i've raised several dogs like that and they usually figured it out by the time they were two or found a new home... I was hoping he would figure it out also. Tonight is a prime example of why I don't run rough dogs anymore. We got all the hogs back, weighed, loaded and called it a night. Here's a few pics... First two hogs... big sow weighed in at 235 lbs. and small boar at 80 lbs. Second two hogs... 115 lb. boar and 175 lb. sow. Fifth hog... big boar at 275 lbs on the scale. Last hog... fat girl. This is probably the fattest hog i've caught or seen by body size. She has a 60 lb frame but weighed in at 110 lbs!

Good hunt fellas, sorry to hear about Tiger. I wish he would have learned to quite trying them sooner, dog had a lot of hunt and knew what he was there for. Hogs look good as always, that is a pile of pork right there!

Here are the pictures of the 275# after the mud was rinsed off of him. Check out these big ol floppy ears. We will have to make another run out there before too long, that was fun. RIP Tiger.

Its amazing how you can go from high fives and feeling great about a hunt to long faces and "darn" within just a few moments. That spot where tiger went down was a rotten hellhole of vines and brush. I know on the way in to find him I was hoping he was caught up in green vines and just couldn't free himself. As we got closer to him and all was still quiet i was getting painfully less optimistic about the outcome. He was an excellent dog, and having been right there beside him the day his "switch" turned on for hogs, I felt as proud of him as if he were mine. Watching him turn into a dog at such a young age was a thrill, and he could be counted on to find hogs on his own.
I'm very sorry about tiger, I wish there was something that could have been done. It was a darned cheap shot.
Cheers M

Thanks everone... it's always the good ones that go. R.I.P Tiger did yall catch the one that killed him?
We didn't even see him. The two pups that were there bayed with him sure gave him a run for his money... maybe we'll find him next time.
