any teeth? Or do you mean any canines? If he don't have any teeth he must just gum the s**t out of them! Either way, that's a bad ace dog!

he doesnt need all his canines. my main catch dogs only has 1 canine and does fine. just leg the hog and show him the ear again...then release the hog. he will get the idea.

Eric,
One tooth isnt going to matter. Have had two with missing teeth. My little bulldog i have now has two canine left. I dont think they should be using the canine for much when it comes to catching. I think more holding power comes from the back teeth. A canine tooth is good for ripping. I would not let missing tooth hold hum back.

That is crazy, is he a nut dog or can he really hold an ear? I don't doubt yer honesty just wanna know how he can rachet down on an ear with nothing but gums.  not trying to be a thread jacker so put me down in the missing canine wont stop him column, good looking dog btw

One of our best catch dogs didn't get retired until she only had 1/2 of one K9 left. She still caught great, never let go and never got knocked off. I am convinced that she would be able to catch with NO K9's just as well as she did with all four. Ultimately she was retired because she was also a loyal companion and we felt that she deserved a life of luxury.

Don't worry about that miising tooth... my old dog only has part of one canine left.

One thing I have noticed, some dogs may do some "chewing" or re-gripping until it heals.

I agree with everyone else that he should be fine.  I got one that had his caninie broke at base when he was about 1.5 and he is almost 9 and still can catch great.  He even caught the boar when his canine got broke, they hit head on, have it on video.  Good luck.

The exact same thing happened to a cur/pit cross I hunted for 12 season. He could still catch and it did not seem to be a problem.

The hog hit him and knocked his tooth sideways. He was cut up in several places and had blood all over so I missed the tooth until a few days later. I wound up cutting it loose with my pocket knife.
