I have heard that hogs can become " trap smart". That is that they can identify the shape of a trap and not go in. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Not sure how they know. But yes they will get trap smart. I cant count how many times they would eat the corn right up to the gate

Not sure about the shape of a trap I believe it more the confined area of the door and the trap itself. I've been trapping for over 15 yrs and they definitely get trap smart....

I've got some where I live that have gotten trap smart also, but every now and then one will decide to go in.
