Good morning everyone. Rockin P and I were talking last night about how expensive it is to take puppies to the Vet for their 8-way's and all. Question?? Does anyone know of a place to order cheap Vet supplies? If so could you pass on the information? We would greatly be appreciated. Its expensive to raise pups anyway. I guess we could start selling them for more?
Thanks
Rick

http://www.shopmedvet.com/

This is where I order most of my supplies.  Click on the "catalog" link at the top of the page, fill out the info and they will send you a free book to browse.

Okay...read the post wrong.

Sorry Dexter...I was already trying to figure out how I was going to spend my new source of cash.

I've always used my injections right away, but kept in the refrig. what is the shelf life on those?

Rick,

The main thing to worry about is, have the shots been kept cold. Several people mentioned that the shots arrive cold, very, very important if they are to work. Make sure your local feed store knows the difference if you buy local, some rather large chains do not know that the vaccines should remain cold. Rabies shot can be purchased just east of Texas at a very fair price as well. My dogs have Rabies shots to protect them not my nieghbors.... Good luck brother everything cost too much these days, just make sure that you are getting what you pay for.

Good Post,
Bennie

Caught,
you order rabies vaccines or taken them and get them done? I didn't think that rabies could be administered by anyone except a vet? Huh?

I like to order my vaccines from Lambriar Vet Supplies, I only use the Pfizer made vaccines, and make sure that you order them to ship overnighted before Wednesday, just in case. I have recieved late vaccines, DO NOT ACCEPT Them, you don't have to, don't chance your vaccines being warm. If they leave them on your doorstep in the sun, call the company you placed the order with and have them send you a call tag for a return.

I used to buy vaccines from Feed stores and tractor supplies and had 8 month old pups get sick of Parvo and even lost a couple that had all their vaccines after round the clock treatment, saved 3 of 5, but that was too hard on me to go through again. After researching, I only buy Pfizer, high titer, even if they cost a $1 more per vaccine, cheaper in the long run than chancing a sick pup. Since I got hard headed and won't settle for less, Knock on wood, never had Parvo or Corona again.

I have a friend from Louisiana that I buy them from, the vaccine cannot be purchased in Texas without being administered by a veterinarian. The shots are not recognized by Texas law but as I mentioned they are for my dogs protection (at 1/3 price). You can purchase the Rabies vaccine in Louisiana with no problems, like other vaccines you must keep them cold. I hope this helps. Later...

Circle C, Bryant, Uglydog, Caughtandhobbled, canitosmomma, DOGMAN4795, and of course Dexter,,I want to let you all know that we appreciate all the information. I have never gave my puppies or dogs shots until a couple of years ago. Now we make sure they have everything and with you alls help we can do it with 1/4 of the price that it has been costing.
SO ONCE AGAIN "THANKS"
Rick

Your welcome, anytime. Glad to hear about getting into a good vaccination habit. There is nothing sadder than watching an animal die from something that can/could be prevented with a simple shot. After all if a dog/cat/horse/cow/etc is worth having its worth the few dollars that it takes to keep them healthy and earning their keep. Wink
