My personal preference is bay-and-shoot... but I enjoy catch-and-stick, and catch-and-tie. Any hunt that puts you on game is a good hunt  Grin

we hunt alot of rough country too, not many roads.  if it wasnt for the mules and horses, i wouldnt want to catch a hog..
it has crossed my mind a couple of times Cheesy but then i would have to buy a bigger truck and a trailer, and i would have to load and unload a mule on top of everything else Wink Grin shoot i would be wore out then lol Cheesy

i am new to the board and hog dog hunting and this is my first post but i have to say...

I grew up hunting and we shot any and every hog we saw from distance.  a few weeks back i had a great opportunity to go out with Chris, Mandi, Mike and Matt on a tie hunt.  That was the most fun i have had in a long time!  later i went on a stick hunt that was, well just not as exciting as the tie hunts.  i love tie hunting and would rather tie one or two than stick a few or shoot a dozen at distance.  i realize some land owners want it done one way and it's their call but for me the tie is the way to go (even if the yield is less).

I have hunted all styles and prefer to catch and tie or stick these days but I've spent a lot of years shooting over dogs also. Its a great way to solo hunt or with one friend.

If I had to pick a style that was most effective for numbers it would be one good dog, a rifle, plenty of ammo, and a sack lunch. Grin
You can sure put a lot of pork on the ground that way!

I stick pretty much every hog I catch.  I just don't have any use for a live hog.  I don' have a pen or even a handy buyer, so why bother with a live one.  I will tie one if know I'll be hunting for quite a while, then stick it right before I head home, but that's about it.
