As a new member or at least father to 2 new FFA members i was elected to head up a hog hunting tournament to benefit the FFA.  I was told the weekend we had available was March 5 and 6 so here we go!

Please, please we need as many hunters as can hunt to hunt to raise money.  All proceeds will go to the Campbell FFA.  Tournament will be from Friday, March 5 at 7:00pm to Saturday, March 6 at 7:00pm.  There will be an Auction of various items including a bow, guns, hunting, fishing, and dogging items after weigh in.  Gun hunters and dog hunters welcome; $100 per team up to 4 members.  It will be total stringer of hogs weighed in dead this is due to not having processing available.  There will be a cash payout not sure of % yet, FFA Board will make decision at a later date.  Please come support the Campbell FFA, if for nothing else BRAGGING RIGHTS and to help out some kids!!!!!!!!!!  There will be hamburgers and drinks for sale the evening of weigh in as well as an auction.  Contact Phillip Casselton at 903-456-3924 to pre-register or register on Friday, March 5 at 5:00 pm at the Hunt County Tractor Supply, located on Hwy. 50, Campbell, TX.  For directions also call Phillip.  I can mail you sign up sheets or you can call with registration information and make checks payable to Campbell FFA.

Phillip making a cash payout of any signifiance would defeat the purpose of the hunt, we can just buy trophies for the first three places. We can do that for less than $100. With this being a benefit hunt I believe the participants will understand the goal will be to raise as much money as possible. If there is anyone out there that would donate items for the auction please contact phillip with a list of those items so we may register them.  Thanks PAUL

things have changed. i dont know why but the school leaders have decided to pay out 80% of entry fees back to the top 3 teams. they are count ing on this to draw hunters to the tournament in hopes money will be made at the auction held during weigh in.we need support for these kids and if any body has dog box, trailer, cut gear, or any other good stuff to donate to auction it would be used to benifit the FFA. there has already been donated, new youth compound bow[parker] remington model 22-250 used rifle with tasco scope,500#steer,go cart, vet supplies and many other items. please contact phillip at 9034563924 with donations or to sign up

This a great thing that y'all are doing, but do you realize this is the same weekend as the TDHA contest? Every hog hunter I know is hunting it... any way to re-schedule? You may have a better turn out?

The FFA is a great cause, and surely worth drawing folks to come spend money and donate, but as Mike stated that will harder to draw folks away from the tournament that has grown so large, and pays out so much in cash and prizes.

Also do you have an address to send items to for the auction?

We didnt set the date the school board did kinda of needing to raise money in a hurry for some upcoming activities.  Next year we will get better date with more time to prepare.  Thanks for the info.  You can send any donations to Campbell ISD, 409 W. North St., Campbell, TX  75422.  Attn Judy Ferguson, FFA Auction.  Please include your address so she can mail you a receipt.  Thanks again for your help.

BOY, you got that right I came through Halletsville last week and I wasnt sure I could even get back up to our neck of the woods from there. Hope to have a big turn out from the local guys. and besides there are going to be alot of auction items. I would hate to have to buy all of them...lol

There are a lot of hunters in the Northern part of the state that don't hunt the TDHA hunt because it is too far.  The don't get much hunting time due to having to drive so far to the weigh in.   Its not really worth it.  Campbell should have a decent turn out.
