Parents are dern good bear dogs - we'll see what happens.

My main strike dog Bubba has been on bear so they oughta have a good teacher.

Out of Mike Dillards dogs...      Also thinking about cross training my other Kemmer (Goose) on bear,  Have to drive an hour one direction to hunt hogs, have to drive an hour the other direction to hunt bear - So, why not do both...   Got a few buddies around here that hunt bear and cats, so I'll have some help - let you guys know how it goes....

I have never hunted bear so just asking! Why wouldnt you run straight hounds from what i have read plotts and walkers are the most popular so i assume open doesnt matter in that world of bear and cats? My guess is that you want a hog and bear dog....just curious?

Have a buddy that runs a couple hounds and the rest Stryker bred curs - he has some dang good bear - curs.   Actually gonna start them on hogs to get them gamey, then plan on running them with his dogs to get their feet wet on bear.  I'm not an expert on the bear either, but also heard that curs run the heck out of a bear track.  Cats on the other hand, I think hounds would be the best due to colder noses, and you normally have to trail a cat forever, according to some guys I know.
