I am currently 3 for 3 on broken digital cameras hog hunting! I've been forced to use my iPhone and a disposable camera the last few hunts and hate it!! I enjoy carrying the camera afield an getting those covetted 'action shots!' I'm looking to buy a new one but would like to find something a bit less delicate I am curious to see if someone has found a good, reliable and sturdy camera yet??? Thanks I appreciate any help

I don't know how your breaking em but if water seems to be the culprit Clay has a really nice water proof/under water camera that takes excellent pictures in the field and you don't have to worry about it being in your pocket when you got to cross a creek etc. What seems to be the most common way you are breaking them?

Thanks Matt, it seems to be more of a shock issue than water.. I'm smart enough to shed the electronics when it comes swim time lol Twice now I've dropped one, once in the grass and once on my jacket.. Both times I was there taking pics when they decided to catch. I gently toss/set the camera down and catch the hog. Both instances I felt like I took my time in setting them down and that they shouldn't have broken. The other one got ran over by a trailer so scratch that instance.. I guess essentially I'm looking for a More' Durable' camera

Tshelly. lawlershogwildhunts on here has a really good durable camera. i have seen it thrown around like a rag doll and still works very good. it is suppose by some kind of camera that takes a beating and keeps on ticking. you might want to PM sandy and ask her, becuase i can't remember the name/brand of it right now.

We have been using a Canon powershot A1000 for a year now and it has most of the original color knocked off of it, but it is still working like a champ. I think that they are a litte over $100. Well worth the money. It has image stableizer, 4x zoom, 10.0 mega pixels, and many other features. Oh... did I mention that you can get it from walmart!

I have had really good luck with the plastic water and shock proof cover. They make them for most popular camera models.

after dragging a Canon SLR pro grade plus lens around for a day i can say smaller is better. the problem is they are fragile. a magnesium body can get "crushed" into mud under a linebacker or hog and come up shooting while a little plastic digital will crater. i would pack any small digital camera in a Ziploc freezer bag to protect it from moisture and dust. i would also choose one that the lens retracts into the case or it has a lens that does not extend. A low light feature and the ability to shoot wide angle is also a big plus. i like the Canon stuff so i will recommend a Canon PowerShot A3000 IS.
