I have been trying to catch the few remaining hogs that are trapped inside of this high fence ranch, but this boar had given me the slip before. The ranch is divided into different sections and we started hunting this morning in one pasture that is about 1,000 acres and is full of just about every exotic animal that is available. We caught 2 piggy sows out of there and then went to the far west section that is about 750 acres to try to find this boar. This time I put down the speed, I saved my gyps Parvo and Roxy for him, because in November he gave us the slip after all the dogs ran him for 1.5 hours after already running 10 miles in the other section. After riding a while, I found where he crossed a road and put Parvo down, well she started tracking him backwards, so I took Roxy and headed up the hill the way he went. Parvo came back across the road and the two of them went in about 150 yards and found him. He broke immediately and made a 300 yard circle and I called my friends that were driving the ranger with the cd, because they didn't know he circled due to the noise of there  motors. They stopped just in time to see the hog come into the road and Parvo nail him on the ass and make him spin. Where's the video camera when you need it? He tried to brake again and both gyps stopped him at about 20 yards where he bayed until they easily drove up and unsnapped the cd. Tied him and hauled him to there lodge and weighed him, he weighed 200 lbs. I think that protein must help their teeth just like it helps deer antlers!

Gotta love those protein enhanced utilty cutters! I'll try and find a picture of Parvo, she really can literally fly.. She came by us on Friday 19 miles into the hunt and on the 7th hog none the less; going faster than most dogs dream about! And the funniest thing is she is the mouthiest lil dog, but she flat gets it done... Guess hog hunting is like any other athletic sport.. Speed kills!!! Smiley

Nice one! You would think it is easy to catch a hog in a 1000 acre high fence. That isnt always the case....they dont have a problem running in the one I hunt either.
