How about the thread being deleted without price, location, number?
Might help with some of the BS

I have to agree with Hawkins to some point, the form should be fill-in entirely or can not post. Not sure if I would go so far as to limit individuals from posting.

Contact name and info
breed
age
location
etc...
and everyone wants to see a picture, so make it a requirement to post ( this is a indicator of the dogs care)
one more thing if possible - make manditory to delete post once the dog or dogs have sold or maybe a auto delete within a time frame

We've been talking about doing a Baydog type set up for a while, guess it's time to go through with it. I don't think we'll do a post minimum to be allowed to post an ad. Lot's of people get in a bind, for many various reasons, and need to sell their dogs in a hurry... no need to make them wait. I know of many good dogs that have been bought and sold on here... buyers just need to what they're getting before they hand over the money.

Sounds like that should work. Sorry yall had to babysit for so long, maybe this will solve that problem. I don't think a minimum post thing would help cause someone could just get on here and put so many smilie faces as posts and then be able to sell a dog. This is a great forum with great people and the dog trade is a great place for people to sell or buy dogs and gives the youngsters a great chance to get strted. People just need to be aware of what they are buying and if not it is their fault b/c warnings have been given.
Thanks mods,
Toby

I'm not worried about a price, some people like to handle their business in private. But they will need a valid e-mail and/or phone number.

I don't think price should be involved.  I know when I get rid of a dog the price is dependent on who is asking.

Its gonna drive a lot of folks crazy not being able to ask questions that are already answered in the post, without calling.  I like it.

Then the moderators would have to check every single post to see what needs to be deleted. Which they might anyway, but I think we should somewhat moderate ourselves.

Although I really don't use the dog trade, I really enjoy reading the posts.  I personally like the new format and hopefully it will help eliminate all the riff-raff.

If the software will allow, one thing you guys might consider is allowing the person who originally started the thread to be the only one who can post replies.  That way if someone asks a question by PM that the person feels would benefit everyone to know, he can post in public.  Also things such as deciding to lower price, let people know the dog has been sold, etc.

I know this can be done by the original poster editing his/her original post, but that won't bump the thread up so people who use the "Show unread posts since last visit" tool won't realize the post has been modified.  Just a thought...

Also, something else to consider might be a charge for placing ads.  Perhaps one or two free per month, then $5 or $10 for each ad after that.

To all Moderators I like the sight the way it was . I really enjoy reading the posts.   Its gonna drive a lot of folks crazy not being able to ask questions. answering all the pms and calls. Bring it back or your sight will dwindle. I don't know a darned thing about how a forum is set up but the suggestion I have is BAN  all the riff-raff.  TAKE THE RULE BREAKERS OUT NOT THE DOG TRADE. Your gonna have folks break the rules sometimes no matter what, just kick them off.

 ALL WILL BE GOOD

Ive been reading all these posts on the different threads about the dog trade and ive seen a few people post that line, if you don't restore this your site will dwindle, YES INDEED the people who do nothing but troll the dog trade posting "finished dogs" at a rate of two per week.  Good riddance.  Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you.

This website wasn't created to revolve around dogs for sale... so if it dwindles a little because of the changes, then so be it. That's just an added bonus for our members to use.

This site was created for hog hunters to have a place to hang out, share stories and information.

I think it will do just fine with or without a dog trade board.
