Read this thread for a better understanding.  If y'all have a good idea of how to run the dog trade, we are all ears.

The dog trade forum should be kept simple. ONLY and ONLY should the poster be able to post or edit his/hers post meaning there will be no replying to a dog trade post. The poster should be required to post thier contact info...email and/or phone number. Therefore if someone has interst in said post then they can contact poster personally. Does this make sense?

Agreed! Another addition if you would like, on another forum i visit they require a 30 post min to be able to post in there.

I'm with you c.miller, I'm pretty new on here and really enjoy the dog trade. I'm just getting started and yeah, you've got to watch people, it's a buyer beware market, either buy from people you know, or take a chance. Thanks to the admins for sticking to the rules, I'm with ya!!

X2! Well said brother! With this said, the mods will have to keep an eye on the General discussion board in fear that someone will post a negative comment about someone and their dogs on there!

I would also like to add that as the guys who run these dogs we have a pretty darn good idea of the questions that we're expecting to see answered in a ad which will in turn save you from having 1000 enquiries asking the same 3 questions that were left out of your post. Think about what questions you would wanna know about the dog and include them. I hope we can get something back up!

I don't know a darned thing about how a forum is set up but the suggestion of cmiller and the suggestion of min 30 posts sound like a way to smooth things out and still have a way to sell decent dogs. Sure going to miss it if it's not possible to fix it.    John

i really like reading the dog trade board mainly to here other peoples way of describing a dog , some are just plain funny.

but i bet it is a full time job for the mods, to keep it cleaned up,  the idea of making it a viewing board only is a great idea, members can communicate thru pm's,  it will also keep guys from thowing in there opinion on some one else's dealings..

if there was a form with required info,  phone #, location, age of dog, gender.  this would help the new guys get all the info needed for a good add..

the next problem will be keeping the dog trading from bleeding over into the other forums, but that might be easyier than not having a place at all for the dog trade cause they will start posting in the classifieds if they dont have a place at all to use..

I dont do alot of posting but i do get on here and keep my eyes open for good dogs. Most of these guys that are breaking the rules are newbie's on this site. I dont think that the dog trade should be takin away because of folks that could care less gettin on here and breaking the rules. TAKE THE RULE BREAKERS OUT NOT THE DOG TRADE. Your gonna have folks break the rules sometimes no matter what, just kick them off. I know alot of young folks get on here and look for dogs to start thier own pack and this is just taking away one resource for the youngsters around east texas live on the great sport and tradition of hog hunting. Modify it like miller said and put it back up. Dont let the rule breakers win.

We've been talking about doing a Baydog type set up for a while, guess it's time to go through with it. I don't think we'll do a post minimum to be allowed to post an ad. Lot's of people get in a bind, for many various reasons, and need to sell their dogs in a hurry... no need to make them wait. I know of many good dogs that have been bought and sold on here... buyers just need to what they're getting before they hand over the money.

I think you should have to be a member for 30 days and at least 30 posts to be able to VIEW the Dog Trade. That might cut out some of the fly by nighters...

Also like the idea of view only, no replying to thread. Buyer must PM or call/email seller.

Should also have a form to copy and paste..i.e.

AGE:

BREED:

PRICE:

ETC...

This is some stuff I have seen on different forums in the classified sections

yes sir i agree some folks might be in dire straits and need to sell out quick but at the same time enacting a minimum post rule would ensure that somone cant join the forum just to sell dogs
