Heys guys im pretty new to doggin and was just thinking today how does the snow affect the dogs? more hogs because the ground is cold so the scent is easier to follow? or less hogs because the dogs have a tougher time in it? just wondering what yall think.

me and my friend just got back about 10 minutes ago dogs bayed about 200 yards off but we couldnt get to them because a huge creek so we finally found a place to cross they broke... well anyways we didnt get a hog but dogs seem to pick up the scent better in the snow they did both times that we went hunting in the snow.

we got 5 inches today, went out ttonight and my dogs would hardly leave my feet, saw some tracks in the snow but there was water in the botttom of the track. dogs wouldnt hardly go on the tracks. got down to a creek and my dogs finally wined a wad of sows and pigs . ended up gettin 2 small sows. the snow was so white you could follow the hogs n dogs tracks through the woods without a light.guess i need a hound every once n a while. my currs dont have the best nosesbut they wind hogs pretty well

For dogs that have never seen snow in their life like most of mine they dont have a clue what to do. Bo acts like one of the kids and just wants to play in it, Dan is like me and looks at me like "why would you want to be out in this crap".....things effect dogs in different ways and dogs that never see snow can be thrown off a great deal by 5 inches of it........i know mine are. As for me and mine we are staying warm while the white stuff is on the ground.

Me and Cash Gasaway went close to Cameron Tx.  to hunt tueseday and it was coming down
thick,   1st time dogs had ever hunted in it          my currs were hunting out but couldn't get
it figured out   until he put his Walker Hound on the ground and she struck and bayed a boar about
350 yrds in the thicket.   before we were finished tying  that hog  1 of my currs struck another that  they
ended up bayin.     I have to hand it to that Walker Hound,  she found that 1st hog

sorry no pics, dont know how to post them
