My catahoula gyp has been burning up the woods here lately, about every time in the last couple months i've been out she's been the first one to have a hog bayed. Right when we get the hog caught she will relay and go get another one bayed up, but I can't get her to stay bayed. She hears all of the commotion when I am tying the hog and loading it up,then she will come back after a minute or two before I have the chance to get there. I've been by myself a good bit lately, so it's hard to get there in time with some catch power.
Anyone have any tips on what I should do?

You have anyone around with experienced dogs that relay well? You normally hunt with your 2 cur dogs right? Does the male buckskin dog stay with you while tying or relay with her? Just a few questions john. Ben

Tie the hog and go to her as soon as that is done and get the tied hog later. Or stick the hog a few times to make it even faster after a few times she might realize you want her to stay on the second hog while you take the time to tie it maybe even load it.

Yeah, I just hunt with my two dogs. And my cur dog is more like a catch dog, I have to tie him to a tree while I am tying the hog.. Wmwendler, I guess I could handle to kill a few to get there a little faster, I'll see how it works tonight

Is your tied dog barking as you tie?
If it is I would think he/she is honoring the second dog and coming back to it.

Yeah Doc will bark a little bit when ever he is tied up. You are probably right CajunL.
Maybe I will get this puppy going soon and get her some help.

It sounds like keepin doc quiet may help. The catahoula is still kind of young right? I got one that pretends to relay then will sneak right back around and bay the tied hog! Drives me nuts...In my short experience with this i think age will help and getting to her quick the next few times may help her to learn to settle in and wait on you. Proly once she gets a few relayed hogs under her she will realize the game. Just my .2 john. Hopefully be down to hunt with ya again soon man. Hey john you an overthinker with this stuff? I can get like that, each hunt is different and can be easy to over analyze and come up with a better plan or dog or watever else..... Ben

Yeah, I always over think things alot Either way I'm still catching hogs with these two so its not too big of a problem.

try sticking the hog or as soon as you have tied him grab your other dog head to her and dump him out in her bay...and if she is a young dog i would consider this a great thing...she is just honoring the other dog...once she straightens things out sounds to me like your gna have a dang good'en there hoss
