That sucks. Never been, but I've talked about going for several years, and I know many of my friends make the trek to UE every year as something they really look forward to.

I just spoke with Liz at the Winnfield, La city hall. http://www.cityofwinnfield.com/contact.htmlShe stated that the issue was resolved, and that Uncle Earls will take place March 24th-28th.

I spoke with Sharon Young of Bayed Solid about 30 minutes ago, and she confirmed that it was definately cancelled. I asked her about the chances of it actually being pulled off, and she told me no chance and that a letter would be posted on the Bayed Solid website shortly. Someone needs to figure something out, because we just cancelled our motel rooms!!

I tried Jimmy and Sharon several times and kept getting a busy signal, I figured their phones were blowing up about this. That's when I called city hall to see what they could tell me.
I guess the next question is this, is the baying off, or just postponed?

I don't know many details, but I went ahead and held my motel room for next year. Hopefully once all the riff-raff is resolved, it will be back. Big economic blow for Winnfield I would imagine.

I eat tofu and my dog eats poodles, does that count Dexter? But this sounds like an organizational thing, not a PETA thing. Sixteen years straight of the best bay dogs in the world and a disagreement might derail it? If that's the case, I sure hope other hunting and working dog groups take note.

I really hate to see this happen. I feel like it is a big blow to the hogdogging world. This is probably one of the most if not the most well known event for promoting hogs and dogs. I hope the TDHA Hunt for the Hungry can step up and fill these shoes.

So do we know what the problem is? There are link to send comments to the Winn chamber and newspaper, but what are people supposed to say? What are we protesting/complaining about/trying to change for next year?

Sounds to me like someone is not happy with the cut they are suppose to be getting. This is devistating to the largest hog dog trial in the world. Not to mention going to hurt the town of Winnfield. Every hotel booked, gas stations with everyone fueling their trucks, and restaurants for people refueling themselves. Seems to me like Money is starting to get in the way. This is a sport that we all love, and would do anything for. I don't make alot of money, but i would do anything in my will to help this sport out and to keep it going. Im not sure if anything can be done now, but if anyone is on this board, or if there is anything that i can possibly do to ake this happen, then dont hesitate to let me know!
