What is the point in having a system that will work up to 2 miles? Do any of you guys have situations where you use it out that far? I only like to use it when I know what is going on. I know that is only for trash breaking. What are some of the other things yall use the system for?

When my dogs are out of sight, I like to zap them every once in a while just to keep them on their toes. Shocked  J/K

Do you think the 2 miles has more to do with the "tone" feature in some units, and less to do with the shock feature?

We will be taking the Tri Tronics sales rep on a hunt this weekend, I'll ask him what gives with the two mile range.

While I am at it, I am also going to ask him if ETHD members can get some type of discount on TriTronics products. Wink

I thunk it has more to do with vegetation etc.  I know of several times where a dog has been shocked out beyond a half mile when they chased off game either in a pasture or across a road pipeline poweine etc.  I have the classic with 1 mile range and never felt like I wished it had more range.

i would hope they're using the tone feature for that distance and not the shock option. lmao

i know i've had labs i trained to come, sit, and okay(continue w/working hand signals) with tone.

At 2 miles what would you be using it for? If a dog is running trash that far then its not working anyway.

I think of it like hand radios, you have to buy 20 mile radios for them to work 5 miles in the woods...
