Has anyone used the magnet mount antenna or long range antenna? If so how do they mount to the device.  A buddy just got one in and it has the coax cable but there isnt anywhere on the device to hook coax cable to. Thanks

Unscrew the rubber antenna on the handheld, then attach the coax in it's place.

I had my own Magnetic mount antenna made. The photo is not real clear, but that reads 7 miles!

I had it made at a local two way radio shop.

whip antenna tuned to 152.5 mhz, with a 3 db gain.

coax to SMA connector, and a magnetic base.

Using that info, any two way radio shop can make one.  If you don't have a local shop, look up Baytown Communications in Baytown, Tx and they can make one for you.

CAUTION****
Hey guys, not for sure if the garmin is like this, but some equipment I have, if you have it on, you better have the antenna attached..May want to turn the garmin off between changing antennas. May be something to check with garmin on. Just a word of advice..

mississippi hog,

The radio guy told me to turn mine off if there is no antenna connected. I think he said it can burn up the finals...  Can't say I have always heeded his warnings though.

Circle C,
Thanks. How much will this run me? Is 7 miles the longest you can get out of it?
