Anybody ever crossed this breed with a bully type breed.
They are built for speed and endurance, which is a rare combination! Probably be a great RCD.

If you could get one then it would be worth a try but a GH would be alot easier to come by if you ask me!

Yeah I just got a bully x grey. I'm worried about his endurance. He'll be ready next November, but I don't know if he can handle the four hour run we had last night. I sent my main pitt in and he hit the boar on a dead run but didn't get locked. The boar took off like a rocket through the stick cane. I sent in another smaller faster Pitt, and he wasn't able to keep up either. We had already caught 2 boars, but this one was being tough. Once again I called my dogs out after 4 hours. They woke up today with raw skin around their eyes and sore feet. They all looked stiff. Both CD's are a little raw on the front legs from the vests. I have a headache and all I know is that I got some for em next year.  Bully x grey, ridgeback x dogo, bully x dane, and a straight Pitt for back-up. I've had about enough. Sure, we catch tons of hogs and shut down most, but it's always that one that will not be stopped with your average dogs. This hog was real smart, I got a good look at him when I lead my CD in and watched him ping the crap out of him. he was close to 275lbs, solid black, big mane. We had been running him for 2 hous and I noticed he kept swimming this 10 foot ditch in almost the same place. He was make a mile circle loop. So when I saw him heading for the ditch, we slipped in there with the smaller faster CD. We were waiting quietly and heard the cane poping, I knew he was coming. He had a 100 yard lead on the dogs. That SOB winded us in the boat and slipped around us. He hit the water hard, but by the time I q-beamed him, he was already across about 60 yards ahead of us. Then, here come the dogs, I watched em all swim across. If I would have had a good RCD, he would have been caught. He wad tired, cause ive never in my life seen a hog hit the water hard. They always slip in quiet, especially when the gators are out cause they know the gators will get the loudest ones in back ( the dogs)! Anyway, shoulda woulda coulda.....I blame nobody but myself. I GOT SOMETHING FOR EM NEXT YEAR!!!

Sounds like a good hunt to me!  Smiley I hit the forest this weekend with my 3 and got a 70 pounder stopped and when I legged him and reached in my pocket for my camera to take a picture after I had cut him I found I had no camera!! I had left it in the front seat of my car!!  Angry We hit a big group later in the day but my Whippet/Bull got T boned by a sow and the group ran off! She is fine besides her feelings! laugh

Post a picture of that whippet if you would. I know that's the second fastest dog in the world. Hey, you caught a pig though, that's all that matters. I have pics of our hunt but no computer. I'm posting from an iPhone.

Stagghound, I've had my eye on em. Should I run a straight stagg or a stagg cross?

http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/index.php?topic=13766.0 Theres pics of all 3 of my dogs in there. I find she (Whippet) is alot more agile then the GH crosses and just a tad slower which she makes up for in her ability to juke branches and stuff. I have a game I play with her where I get her excited and she starts kickin up alot of dust and running around that I have tried on a few occasions to video but haven't figured out a way to get it filmed yet without asking my G/F for help which I would then have to explain to her why I am trying to video it! lol  laugh

Ever thought of using a good cur dog, then back it up with those pits?

They use them quite a bit in Argentina. They cross them with dogos and pits over there.

i've got a 1/2 stag x 1/4 dogox 1/4 ab... he's fast as all get out not as fast as a greyhound but faster than my great dane.  and quite a bit faster than my uglydog (cur mix) and dogoxab

that's what I started with and what I have now. I have acess to 3 of mine and about 7 more of my buddies that are rough. They just push the hog futher and futher. I don't likea rough dog unless they plan on grabbing an ear and not letting go. I've brought people with me that swore they had rough cur dogs that would stop any hog and they didn't do much of anything out there but bark and chase all night.
