Loaded up the dogs and kiddos and went hunting Saturday afternoon.  Dogs hit a track off the road and started working it hard.  About 10 minutes later heard my plott cross open up and had a nice red boar bayed up by himself.  Snuck up to the bay and he busted.  My other hound Sam showed up and they had him spinning pretty good, but he was still walking.  Tracker latched on to his hind end for a minute and finally stopped him in a thicket.  My buddies who had the bulldogs were a few hundred yards back so I decided to shoot him to avoid him breaking again.   What happened next just goes to show you how tough hogs really are.  I shot him in the head with a 45-70 from about 40 yards.  He dropped like a sack of potatoes so I started to walk toward him when all of the sudden he jumped up like nothing ever happened.  Just when I raised the gun to shoot him again, Track decided to catch him.  I yelled for the catch dogs go and a few seconds later we had the situation under control.  When I shot him, the bullet entered the bridge of his nose, shattering his jaw.  I guess the shot just knocked him out for a few seconds and then it was back to his feet.  These animals never cease to amaze me.  Pics of 4 happy kids and hog.
