Cedar Nate has a mill, but I bet you can find one local. Seems like there used to be a mill near Cat Springs, that ought to be closer than Nate.

 George from Brookshire also has a portable mill.

I think there is one here in Magnolia or Pinehurst and if not I bet I could take em to Giles in Montgomery.

Circle C is correct.  They are telephone poles that have been run thru a saw mill.  We lucked out when we found this place.  All fencing was already done.  I'll get some more pics for yall.

We added the trees after we moved in because there wasn't any at all.  But other than that and the dog kennels and a few minor additions, it looks like it did when we bought it.  Lucky, right?   Grin

I like the drinking area, a little short on shade trees maybe. Grin

I feel your pain with the rabbits. I lost several trees last winter when it was so dry to the dayummed things.

How far can you see out there, all the way to tomorrow ?  Grin Grin

BobbyB the tree issue is the only thing I don't like about this place, but that's an easy fix as long as I can keep the rabbit population in check!   Wink. Growing up in a small town in the upper northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle and on the Canadian River, trees and cattle are the two things I miss most nowadays!!

we can definitely see blue northerns coming about a half a day before they arrive!!

Mandi, myself, and our neighbors, Raul and Maria, just got the majority of our CO-OP garden planted yesterday.  Just so everyone knows, Mandi is the Garden Boss, if the garden fails to produce, it will be her fault Grin

We spent considerable time working the gumbo soil that we live on. Used a cultivator, an offset disc, and a 6' tiller/ rotovater. We spread ~16 cubic yards of manure/ stall cleanings, then tilled that in about 8".

After making our rows, we ended up with 83 rows, that are 40' long.

This week we will bring out an excavator and install  700' of 1-1/2 waterline to keep the garden watered during the heat of the summer.

Here is what we planted
Row #
1-10 = Sweet Corn

11-15 = Bush Beans

16-20 = Anasazi Beans

21 = Jalapeno

22 = Cabbage

23 = Zucchini

24 = Cabbage

25 = Okra

26 = Cucumber - Vining

27 =

28 = Yellow Squash

29 =

30 =

31 = Canteloupe

32 =

33 = Cucumber - Bush type

34-79  = reserved for succession planting of Sweet Corn

80-83 = Watermelon

DAGGUM!!!  Now that is what you call a garden!!!  Shocked Shocked  Can't wait to see pics of it!!

We got the majority of ours planted this weekend as well - giant sunflowers, radishes, lettuce, spinach, onions, bush beans, eggplant, broccoli, & watermelon.  We will be finishing up this weekend with cantelope, zucchini squash, yellow squash, tomatos, jalapeno peppers, green chiles, and purple hull cowpeas.  We are working on some kind of drip irrigation system for ours as well.  Sure will make it a lot easier to water more efficiently during the hot summer hours!!

We got our garden in saturday, we planted the cold weather stuff a while back and it stayed so wet that most of it rotted. This time it looks better, if we get some rain this weekend it will all be coming up soon. I haven't had a garden for a couple of years, so I had to break a new garden spot. I'm sure the bermuda grass will be bad this year, but I plowed up where I stacked hay last summer so the ground should be fairly fertile from the hay rotting on it all year. We planted onions, collards, and spinach a while back, then green beans, okra, purplehull peas, corn, tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, zuchini, watermelons, and some very late potatoes that should have gone in a long time ago but the day after I bought the seed it started raining and just now has dried out. Hopefully they will make at least some small potatoes to go with the green beans.Smiley Here is a picture of me breaking the garden the old fashioned way. My horse Bully hadn't been worked in quite a while so we had some behavior modification sessions before we got to this point!

Well, that answers my question of how many hp your tractor has.

Very nice pic.  I can't even imagine doing it like that.  Hats off to you.

After last years drought and the lack of produce from my garden, I just did not have the enthusiasm this year, all of yalls gardens put any of my efforts to shame!

Jolynne, you better get Slim to work on that chicken coup! the little fluffybut hen is setting her clutch now, and I got some beautiful Roosters from last hatch that need to go, they are just starting to crow!

Krystal, that is cool!!  I will have to get to work on the coop now, but it's got to stop raining first!!  Slim and I both agree that no roosters unless Thomas either trains us one or we get that big "dancin'" one!!  Wink LOL!!

How's everyone's garden coming?  I'm turning veggies like crazy over here.  We had a heck of a storm come through night before last with wind, hail and all that.  Layed my corn over...hopefully it will stand back up but we'll see.

Last nights pick..

I would say from your pics I aint doing something right haha.  I got fruit but it seems to be taking forever to mature.  My tomatoes are a good size but still green and my bell peppers are about half that size and havn't grown much lately.  I have done my garden with no pesticides or fertilizer just to see what it would do and I think I am seeing that I need some fertilizer!  I do have some squash and bush bean that are coming on strong though hopefully they will make.  I planted some carrots and they never even came up?
