Two Weekends ago when everyone was having fun during the tournament we went out to Van Dorn's big 7500 MLD lease for the anual hog hunt for lease members and friends. Great hunting, spicy crawfish and tasty homemade Mayhaw wine made for an awesome weekend. Saturday morning we again went with puppy patrol  putting  the five 18 month old dogs down ( Boogie, Miss Anne, Jackie, Fawn and Sadie) and three finished dogs in Wilma, Cowboy, and Roxxy! a few of the pups and Wilma went past a feeder and the race was on.. People would laugh and wonder how we catch hogs sometimes, that first race sounded like a pack of angry/crazy birds coming through the woods lol We all hope/dream /wish for silent dogs but some of the best Ive ever been around were open.. in the end SPEED kills all and Sadie, Fawn and Wilma had a 125# boar hog caught in a cave we end up in every year.
First Boar

The other dogs had already rolled on with Cowboy and Boogie being bayed .9 miles to the West across White Rock creek; while Miss Anne and Roxxy were lining one down South. Big E and Jim Ed headed to the boys aand ended up catching a nice 150# blonde sow with Obama( the one time our CD was used for the weekend Smiley  ) I headed down South to the Roxy and Anne, once Jackie and my gyps got there they caught and Zack went in and flipped another nice sow around 140#...
Anne and Roxy's Sow

Well the dogs are about worn out and its getting on about noon so we decide to refresh and refuel at the trailer! We were just pulling up when Big E calls needing the bulldog bc Anne, Roxy and Jackie are bayed on a nice 200# boar along White Rock.. We fly back around and once my gyps get there everyone decides to catch, a few minutes later and a COLD swim we get the hog caught.

We regroup and turn out the old men, Roscoe, Blaster, Trailer and Parvo.. they quickly find and bay another nice 200# boar in a slough that Shannon was able to put a loop on and again catch with the cur dogs!

Well Come Sunday morning everyones moving slower and it takes a while to find some hogs.. but finally after about 15 miles of hunting Parvo finds a big group and for the next 4 hours we caught 2 good sows, 2 pigs and two boar hogs.. Drake, Roscoe and Jackie catch the first  125# boar hog and roxxy, Parvo, Jackie and Roscoe all caught the 2nd SALTY 150# boar once Eric put the lariat to good use! It ended up being a nice weekend with 11 total and Jim Ed once again taking the MVP for catching all 5 nice boar hogs Smiley

This past weekend we were called in to go after a really big hog... Supposedly 500 #'s!! Well we meet everyone, including Trey Ellis and some boys that are gonna open up their deer lease next door to hunt too. We turn out Cates dog Hawk and Big E's best dog Roscoe on the track (which in all reallity is only about a 300# hog.. it still amazes me how most people overjudge most big hogs Smiley )

Anyways the old men are rolling on 1000 yards off already. We ride around to them and we can see them crossing the very far end of the field. Eric mentions that he thought he saw the hog crossing in front of them, So i go ahead and turn my two, SAdie and Fawn, loose.. They all go in and make a lap eventually coming back into the fields again, they roll on and make another loop when my gyps open up around 400 yards and start rolling on, the old dogs both peel off and start heading back this way, so now Im pissed that here we are trying to track hunt this big hog and now my pups are trashing on deer.. 1000 yards later they sit down and start baying pretty as ever. The boys go to them and are hammering too, we finally get in there on the horses and my bllack gyp Sadie has about 220# sow sat down, i catch her and flip her. We go aheand and decide to kill her since we cant get a 4 wheeler in to her. Roscoe and HAwk each caught a few pigs while this was happening.
First Sow

We got out there and rejoined forces with everyone and went up on the hill to check a nice thicket. All 4 hit the woods cold trailing. about 80 yards in Fawn yipped once and went to bawling, a few seconds later all 4 are hammering... We sneak in and they have a nice spotted boar hog with FANGS bayed solid.. Its in a bad tree top and once we all get situated Big E sends Obama.. after that a bomb went off and the hog finally spun enough where I could grab tail and just hold on for the ride.. I held on long enough to pass him to Kates who was in a much better position to flip.. We got her done and he rounded the scales out at 280#..
Bad Blow Down

We regrouped and turned the two studs Roxy and Boogie out, They made a big 900 yard loop and singled out a fat 140# sow and then rolled on and ran down another one about 90#.. We called it a day with just 6 and went home happy. Thanks for reading, god bless and Happy hunting!!

I've got an aunty who lives in Montana and when I visited them a few years back being an island boy I had to go for a swim in the river that borders the backside of the property and so every time I see these pictures of you guys jumping into get to the dogs and the pigs I have flashbacks of hypothermia city setting in! Great bunch of pigs and looks like a great time!
