If they are nursing, try the warm cloth and rub their anus as stated before.  The pups that you lost, did their belly turn blue and cry.  Had a problem with this earlier this year and the pups were toxic.

I've also heard (never experienced) that if a momma dog is getting mastitis or running a fever it can constipate the pups. You might wanna check her milk and make sure it's not odd colored or smelling funny, that may keep you from having a sick momma dog as well. Best of luck...

I have lost 2 pups and could not figure out why...they had blue spots on their belly like bruises and they cried a little.  What I didnt understand the most was they were 6wks old, wormed and had their shots.  No signs of parvo or anything...just died within in 3 or so hours.  What is a toxic pup?  Thanks for your help.

A toxic pup or dog is one that has "poison" in them.  The poison can be a kidney failure and the urine is backed up or their stool can get backed up and poison them.  Or a toxic dog can get into antifreeze or something.  Had a lab have kidney failure and his gums turned dark purple.  Died in a few hours.

Thanks for the information.  Learn somthing new everyday.  Now that i know a cause, what can u do to treat a pup that has a blue belly before it actually dies? Not one in anti freeze...just a small pup about weening age, seems like that when they die.  Strange how when they are on their moma they do fine but a few days later after full time puppy food, they get sickly.  Thanks again for the help.
