I don't tend to swap around dog foods for no reason. My dogs did better on Diamond High Energy than any other kind of feed I had tried, even Sportsmix. My only issue with Diamond was that the batches were not consistent. Stools were mushy on most bags, but sure enough liquid on others (sorry to be gross). The dogs hunted fine and looked good. Tried sportsmix for two months, my dogs didn't do well on it but their stools were improved.
This was our third month on Victor 24/20. The dogs are all in excellent condition, holding good weight (if not just a little too porky on a couple of them). Tyson's skin conditions - hot spots - have pretty much cleared up and I have stopped medicating him. I have been battling those hot spots for better than a year. I'm thinking now he may have had a food allergy. Even my hard keepers look good and are really maintaining a good energy level in the field. I'm going to say that after three months on Victor I am sold on it.
But all dogs are different and folks have different expectations of dog feed. Cheers M

3B, There is a Black Gold dealer 35 miles from you. Might be worth making the trip if the feed has served you well. http://www.roundtop.com/farmranch.html

I have tried everything that has been available to me and Victor 26-18 (Green Bag) has been the best so far. I liked it so much that I am the distributor for Louisiana, South Arkansas and may even start Mississippi. So if anyone wants to become a dealer or wants to buy in bulk just drop me an email and I will get you fixed up.
I believe Corn causes dogs to exhaust all energy quicker. If that makes sense. Since we started using Garmins our dogs were running around 15-19 miles a hunt while feeding Extreme dog fuel, corn is fourth ingredient. Since we started them on Victor we are consistently getting 22-25 miles a hunt on the dogs before they are give out. They hold weight really good, but not too much, and the waste has become a minimum. Not to mention they dont have to eat as much of it to get the necessary nutrients that they need. Plus it is a very affordable food, even the 30-20 blend is cheaper than most dog foods that have corn in them.

Victor is affordable, but new converts need to know that they are 40 lb bags and not fifties. That gets people all upset at first until they run the numbers and realize that the price per pound of dog food works out even though they are not 50 lb bags.

Not to mention that it goes just as far as a 50lb bag because it takes less of it to get them the nutrients they need.

I have been feeding Victor the last month and am very happy with it. The best the dogs have ever looked was on RAW but that was a huge hassle for me. I will be sticking with the Victor

I am going to try the Victor out, are most feeding 24/20 or the 26/18 I buy 400lbs at a time so I would like to get it right the first time. I have been a tried and true Sprortsmix fan and I can clean my kennels with a broom not a hose and I can only hope that Victor will allow for this as well provide a cheaper/better feed for the dogs and my pocket book.

I used to feed high fat 20% or so during winter and go down in summer. I personally found 26-18 works best for me year round. I haven't had one complaint about the Victor feed yet.
