Last weekend Byron(blenox) invited Van Dorn and I up to help take a few guys from Houston hunting. It was a good trip with 7 sows total.. Nothing too special on this hunt other than Big E's Boogie pup went about 1.5 miles to find the first 2 sows. Cur dogs caught everything and it was a great time.

On good Friday Van Dorn, Marshall Mims, Candace and I were able to get up and hunt with Colby behind his parents house. Colby an avid hog hunter has taken a little break from the sport do to college and work but still has a few honey holes with lots of hogs. Their neighbors Kevin and Jim Bob were there to join us and open another 1000 acres to hunt.. Well Big E puts his dogs: Parvo, Roxxy, Boogie, Miss Anne and Jackie down while I hunt my 2 pups Sadie and Fawn! All the dogs roll out and we soon have 2 bays one of which we catch a 110 # sow and a good boar at the other bay somehow gives us the slip.. We regroup and Jackie finds the next big sow and from there the dogs get into a wad and go about .8 mile into a big 10,000 acre ranch full of hogs. Colby has permission to go in and get his dogs so we keep on walking to them while Big E takes a ranch truck around. On the way a puppy traveling with us bays a big spotted boar hog in a briar patch but Obamam misses and now we're w/out a CD and still 900 yards fromn the other dogs still bayed.
45 minutes and a mile later on foot I finally get Obama caught and start back headed to the dogs bayed. Colby, Marshall and Kevin had gone on to the dogs and were steadily catching nice 100-150 # sows with Boogey, Anne, Jackie and Fawn 6 hogs total.. Big E finally gets around to us and picks up Candace, Jim Bob, and I. we're headed to colby and them but decide to stop and catch the  hog Roxxy and Parvo have bayed about 250 yards from us. Well Jim Bob and I bail out of the truck with Obama and go them.. Thinking its just another sow that slipped out from the group we turn Obama loose from about 75 yards in.. I knew we were in for some trouple when I saw on the garmin that the CD was there but there cur dogs never stopped barking. Welll as soon I get there the 2 gyps roll out and leave just me, Jim Bob a 15 yr old boy and the CD obama to catch this big spotted barr. Obama has already ran probably 4 miles chasing hogs on a broken bay and one of his misses, so he's already tired.. Everytime we get close to legging the hog he throws the CD off and spins like crazy. 150 yards down the creek later Im finally able to leg him and with Jim bobs help we get him pushed over in a mud hole.. Embarassing as it is my half hitch came off and when we got back 3 hrs later to drag the hog out he was gone!!!! a few minutes later our main strike dog Colby found him again with 2 of his legs hobbled and an interesting 5 minutes we get him caught.. It was an awesome hunt with 9 total and Obama was by far the MVP of the hunt.. The barr went 354 and is our biggest to date this year Smiley

This is when we had to re-catch him again

Big E's: Roxxy and JAckie(spotted and red dog) Fawn and Sadie(my 2 walker crosses)

Big E's Parvo and Byrons Cowboy(black dog)

Big E's Boogie and my bmc Drake

haha thanks Matt.. yeah you gotta cut em to catch em! He actually surprised because he had such a little frame but he was butterball fat and DENSE! he had a very low center of gravity and was very good at spinning and keeping his feet under him. Thanks for looking everyone, hope you enjoy

I might have to dump them in a hog bed before they strike but I bet they will bark at something or should I say anything.  Actually I hope they all come out red that black hide gets too dang hot.  Yall ever get many red ones out of your CB bred dogs?
