Shot in 140' of water, W of Tampa(Gulf of Mexico) freediving(breath hold spearfishing).   Deepest dive to shoot a fish was 110', on which I shot the nice Red snapper.  Fun stuff Cheesy

Red Snapper shot @ 110', you can't see them but there's 5 dusky sharks within 15' of me trying to get my fish..... which is why I was holding it out of the water Grin

Amber Jack(my buddy's first!), Mangrove Snapper, and RS

Annoying Jewfish that kept eating out Grouper..... that'll teach him Grin

My highlight of the day, my first speared Permit Cheesy

I've got a reel on my speargun that holds 180' of  500# braid, but it sometimes gets jammed Shocked  At that point all you can do is hope that you "stoned"(shot to the center skull paralyzing the fish) the fish.   I try never to shoot an AJ anywhere else, but have just about lost my gun several times from misplaced shots.

Yeah,  most people don't realize that sharks(most sharks Wink) don't want you, they just want your fish.   The ones that DO want you, usually give you plenty of time to defend yourself.  But, to tell the truth, it usually takes me about 10 minutes in the water(every time)  for the fear to go away....

Speaking of fear, one of the guys I dive with had a close call with a Mako...
This is what happens when an aggressive shark gets too close.... they turn into shark steaks Wink
