If I am close enough to the bay, yes. I really don't have the catch dog to turn him out from a long way like I hear some other folks do.

i learned my lesson , i cut mine loose at 300yd and took me longer then i thought it would to get to him . by the time i got there he was shaking off an a$$whipin ... at the end of the day i had to dogs cut one limping and my CD had a hole i could stick my thumb in going through the bottom of his jaw and through his upper lip ... i now walk him in to site of the bay ...

You have to know you enviroment and distances or you can get in a bind. Fields and light brush I have no problem cutting loose from the box. The thicker it gets the closer I like to be.

Im out there to hunt and and let my dogs work I want to be there when the catch dog gets to the hog because im going to be right behind him my friends are the same way when the bulldog is let loose we go in to dogs doing his job its time to do yours. When you turn your catch dog loose to far back dogs stand a better chance of getting messed up. But this is just how we do it every body has there own way they like

If im closed enough to the bay i turn him loose but only if i can tell its a good solid bay cause mine catchdog will try to keep going with em if the hog breaks an then he gets wore out

I wasn't really looking for how everyone hunts.
I have a young dog that hates being on a lead. He is alright in open ground but fights it when you get in to any kind of cover. Mostly my fault, as he never even had a collar on until he was 7 months old. He is timid about being controlled by his neck. Not at all agressive he just kind of freaks out. I'm gonna give him another week or so to change, if not he's off the food bill one way or another. I was just curious how many people hunted that way. Its not for me.
If one of you is interested in another dog, send me a pm, he might be available in a week or 2.
