Two weekends ago, I turned 30. My girlfriend Jenny (Gillett Jen) threw me a surprise 30th birthday party. Since I didn’t know I was having a party that weekend, I planned an over-night hunting trip. When Jenny found out my plans, she had to contact the land owner to cancel the plans!!! She hated to do this but hey, you only turn 30 once! Things defiantly worked out for the best because we had an excellent hunt at Jenny’s place this weekend. Also on this hunt was Chris Barrett. I met Chris at the TDHA weigh-in. Chris likes to saltwater fish and dog hunt as much as I do. I was glad we were able to put together a hunt and have him along. We started the hunt with my dogs on the ground and Chris used his Crash dog as a second catch. As soon as we began the hunt, a couple of my dogs yipped from the trailer so we cut them loose. Sure enough, they had winded and started a chase that looped way around us. The dogs got the hog stopped and bayed him on a cross fence in the middle of the pasture. We got close and cut the catch dogs loose. Good way to start the night! With one hog down, we continued to hunt along a creek. A little ways later the dogs got on more hogs. One of my young dogs got his first confirmed Strike and the other dogs soon joined into a solid bay. We eased up and cut the catch dogs loose. Caught hog. Chris was nice enough to baptize himself in the creek to fetch the dogs and hogs. It was quite a chore and he was getting nothing but coaching from me! When Jenny arrived, she bailed in to give Chris a much needed hand. After everything was under control, Jenny was disappointed that I had not gone in to help Chris. She got me back by rolling me into the water! The pic is of me trying to stay dry! It was a great time and a great hunt with some nice hogs. I’m doctoring two dogs but they should be ready to go next weekend! Tight Lines and Solid Bays, TexasJ                 |

Looks like a great hunt Josh. Those hogs looks much better on the computer than they do on the phone. That one has a good set of teeth.

My wife and son are taking more of a role with the dogs everyday. I like seeing other families invloved and new hunting partners created.

First off I would like to thank Josh and Jenny for alowing me to join in on the hunt !!! The hunt started off fast not 10 or 15 minutes after we got in the feild the dogs had the first boar bayed and it was pretty neat since we could make him out in the open feild with the moon light and you could see the dogs around him !!! Then we end up baying the other one in the creek were Josh acted like a cat over water he said he wanted to keep his socks dry well not me and into the creek I go !!! But we had a great hunt and once again Thanks Josh and Jenny !!! I guess if I ever take Josh fishing I don`t have to worry about him following me if I decide to go wading !!!

Don't worry Chris, I got your back! Josh, you forgot to mention that my little sister Amber and Brody came along too (although its pretty obvious from the pics!) We had a great time! Andy, I wonder where those hogs were when we hunted out there with you guys!?
