Does anyone know where I can find some old military vehicles?  I am mainly looking for jeeps or trucks that I could convert into a hunting buggy.  I would really like an old truck that I could either restore or make into a flatbed and put custom built dog boxes on it.  I dont know why, but I just think it would be really cool.  I live about an hour south of San Antonio and an hour and a half north of Corpus Christi.  With all the bases around, there has to be somewhere that I could find an old truck or jeep to fix up.  I have also been looking at an international scout.  If you guys have any knowledge on the subject, please let me know.  I am really interested in getting started on making an awesome hunting buggy.  Also if yall have any pictures of old vehicles that yall have fix up, please post them.

Lots of military surplus outfits around, some you can buy at and some you can't, unless you meet the "govt. entity" standards.
See lots of old Willy's on craigslist and E-bay.
I like the looks of the military stuff but it just doesn't seem feasable to me, size, weight, price, parts wise, but good luck to you in your search.

Dude I have no idea how many are on my buddies place. Most are way too big for hunting buggies. I drive an M1009 almost everyday. It is my go have fun truck. It looks like a Chevy Blazer that the back roof comes off. The good and bad are it is diesel. The front is heavy in the mud but I 20mpg. They are not cheap or expensive. I plan on putting a dog box insie. You do have to be a US citizen and not on terror watch list to buy one. But for about $3000 to $6000 I can get you one. I am on the approved buyer list for military auctions. There is a lot of red tape but I can get whatever you want just let me know.

Im not really looking for anything big.  I really want like one of the M-37 Dodge Truck or like a M-715 Kaiser Jeep.  Let me know if you know where any of them are and how much they would cost.

As long as it is legal I can get anything you want to pay for. The only limits are the law and your wallet. This is my truck with the Super Swampers (It is not for sale)

Search Military Vehicles at craigslist. Don't know about Texas but you can find them here in FL and we do not have any bases around. Mostly Blazers and Pickups, not a lot of jeeps.

I would stay away from International Scouts. There are Great vehicles that last but they are getting harder and harder to find parts for.

They do a lot of buggies here in Fl. I think your best ticket would be to buy an 80's to 90's model Ford, Chevy, or Dodge truck. A lot have succumbed to rust on the body and bed and you can get them cheap. You can get parts at any corner parts store in stock. And a lot of the older trucks are carburetor. Give it Fuel, air and spark and it go's

Yeah, that is what is coming up at the auctions. People get them and have no idea how to fix them. If you get one and need the tech manuals let me know. I have them all and can put them on CD or flash drive. Just remember they do not have a/c. That is why I like the Blazer because I can take the back off in the summer. They use the 6.2L diesel. They have the mechanical injection pump. So no electronics. The starters are 24V so they start up real easy. I have seen some junk on ebay or craigslist and some very over priced trucks. I saw one get to $10,000 and the reserve was not met! I can get a truck make sure the engine runs, change the relay that can burn up a starter, and even repaint it with CARC (that is what the military uses) for $3000 to $6000. It just depends on how much has to be fixed. Even if the engine is blown. But I have been though almost every part of the trucks.

I have friends that have bought from individuals and you have to be careful. You have no idea what they have done. I only buy from the Government. Because you do not know what the condition is but you know that at least there was some organization and they had the tech manuals. People buy them and put crazy transmissions in, swap the axles, change the starters, and all kinds of crazy stuff. Then what they thought would be really cool makes the truck less reliable and they have a mess so they sell it. It will cost you much more to fix their mess than buy one that has everything and it just needs repairs.

All of our major ranches here around home ( 60,000+ acres size I mean ) have both power wagons and the old jeep trucks, used mainly for spray rigs and they do sell them every now and again. Most have been coverted to small block chevy and a few ford small block powered rigs are around. Maybe the same way where your at? Might try talking to some local cowboys. They both sell for $3,500 + around here cause everyone wants one
