GOLDEN CREEK CATAHOULAS AND BMCS

Guess you would call him Blonde or maybe Cinnamon. JohnF and I got an invite to a hunt club that was having problems with a few hogs. We turned out right after daylight and the dogs hadnt been on the ground 10 minutes when Emma and Johns dog Lucy hit this Boars track and found him layed up along the creek bank about 50 yds away. As soon as I heard Emma open, I started her way and within a few steps the dogs had him stopped. I was surprised to see such a big hog when I got in to leg him and definitely had my hands full. The dogs had his ebrake on for sure and I was not worried about him going anywhere. Bill and Butter, our BMCs, had him caught on each ear and the other dogs were pulling anywhere they could grab. Our young dogs got to get in on their second good hog in two weekends and it did them alot of good for sure. BJ, the hunter who invited us down , got to stick his first hog. He told us he was just a little shakey going in not knowing what to expect. Think he may be hooked...said he could mark that off his bucket list. BJ said he was going to mount this hog. Nice color and good 2" cutters that worked our BMCs over.. each had 2 cuts under their vest and collar..Glad we were close to the dogs when they caught. We didnt weigh the boar but knowing that the sow from last week weighed 230 on the scales this bruiser had to be pushing 275-300.
We tried to get back out and find another hog since we had this one down and dressed by 0730 but no luck...all we got were ticks and hot but had a great hunt..our best boar.[/img]

Id call the boar a blond and that cute little girl a red head. Grin

That boar will make a unique looking mount.

Thanks..we got a bunch more..we try and run as many as we can since we only get to hunt on saturdays. Try and rotate in the young dogs to get them started and keep them going.  Emma was a hard charger for sure..she walked with us most of the morning and her dad enjoyed having her with us . He was headed out west today and wanted to spend time with her. Should have seen her eyes when the dogs caught that hog and i ran in to leg it. Shocked
